I have a friend that interned down at KCCI, and always said that Heidi was incredibly difficult to get along with.

Yeah, a close girlfriend was screamed at by Heidi in a huge tirade. The entire rest of the staff was mortified by her. It made me sad.

I heard is a cool guy off the air.

Back when I was in middle school, ISU used to put on the "Young Writer's Conference" every year. Certain kids got to go from each school based off of their writing skills, etc., and local artists and writers would give classes. Anyway - I went to go see Kevin Cooney's classes all four years. He was super-nice, and great with kids.

speaking of news people that are hard to work with i hear ed wilson is a real d-bag off air.

He lived down the street from me when I was growing up. Never once interacted with him.

My barber did say he was a dbag though.

Kevin Cooney is a stand up guy. His brother owns/runs Cooney's in Beaverdale.

I remember watching her do a sportscast once and hearing her say "Ben Rethlisburger" 4 TIMES. She was terrible.

This kind of stuff annoyed the begeezus out of me about her. It was tough for me to understand how it was that I knew way more about sports than she did when it was her JOB to know sports and I was carrying a full time job in a completely unrelated field. It made me wonder what she did all day to warrant that paycheck.

This annoys me about most of them. Very few of these broadcasters or writers know much of anything about sports, yet they're paid a ton more than me. That always bothers me.

I'm shocked at this anti-ed wilson talk. The guy is a die hard Cyclone fan. I sat right by him for the Colorado game several years ago and was a riot, really went out of his way to cheer with the rest of our section...just a good guy and again, loves the Cyclones.

Made me a huge Ed Wilson fan from that day on.

The real question.....would Ed Wilson do weather coverage for 3 hours straight while ISU played in an NCAA tournament game if WHO were the only station to watch it on?

Agree, Ed Wilson is a class act all the way.

Heidi called in to Coutlar's show one morning a few weeks ago, so I know she is still kicking.

I never cared for her reporting and then she got fat. Yes, that is not fair, but you can get away with gaining weight as a male sportcaster, but it is death for a female in that field considering the vast majority of the audience is male.

I'm not sure who you're talking about, but most of the local sports media guys don't make much. The sports director for each TV station probably makes pretty good money, but the rest of them are probably making very little.

Most SD's have to shoot their own footage, it's not like they sit in their office and wait for all the stories to come in.

I have run into Ed Wilson a couple of times while just out with the family.

He has always been sociable and was willing to say hi to my kids.

Talked with him once at a park in Clive as both of us were there with our kids on a weekend Spring morning. He was fully decked out in Clone gear and is a fan, as well as a nice guy.

Biggest difference is he seems like a down to earth person as opposed to another weather person who seems to think pretty highly of himself.

I guess I was thinking of the play-by-play guys and such. I wouldn't be surprised to see that the local guys don't make a whole lot.

Sorry. I didn't make my post very clear at all.

I was on a cruise a few years back wearing my Cyclone t-shirt. Ed Wilson walks right up to me, shakes my hand and says it's good to see another ISU fan on the ship. Very nice guy. Talked to my family quite a bit. Looked like he was a good family man with his wife, daughter and son on the cruise too. I can't imagine him being a d-bag.
