My prime hated-heard-too much song in college was American Pie by Don McLean. Hated it, hated it, hated it. The gals in Richardson Court all loved it, loved it, loved it.

It's been seeing a revival of sorts.
Not sure way but I found I no longer hate it which is a pretty big WTF for me.

In college I also noticed that all the non-brown eyed girls loved My Brown Eyed Girl. Strange.

Voted for Bo Rap. Certainly a fine tune but it was/is overplayed. That being said I would rather hear it than Bicycle Race, Fat Bottom Girls, We Are the Champions, or We will we will Rock You.

I'm old and I am not familiar with about 60-70 percent of the songs listed. Even the ones I've heard OF, I've not necessarily heard. Probably/maybe heard them in a commercial setting but didn't necessarily know it.

Were I making the list I would have included:

Anything by the Four Seasons
Anything by Cher (S&C okay - just something about HER I loathe)
99% of Neil Diamond crap
Anything from Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack - this is the equivalent to me of Boxters American Pie. So so so overplayed and overexposed during my college years that I can't really handle it. I do, on the other hand, love all the 60's and early 70's Bee Gee's pop stuff.

High honorable mention - Anything by Donovan. Starting to really annoy me. (Listening to 60's on 6 on Sirius).

What has us Queen/ACDC fans up in arms is their very inclusion on this list of repulsive artists. Let's be fair and add Stairway to Heaven & Satisfaction while we're at it. I love Van Halen, but I'll vote for Jump.

please remove Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen...............Queen is one of the most under-rated bands of all time. The rest of the songs on your list can be permanently deleted.

Underrated? I grew up under the impression that Queen was widely regarded as one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Maybe under appreciated at the time their music was released I guess.

Edit: I'm slow. Hip hop pretty much said the same thing on page 2.

Black Betty hate that song with a passion

Leadbelly's version is where it's at.

Used to know a guy in college who would always sing that at karaoke...let's just say if he knew its origins, he wouldn't have liked the song.

Otherwise anytime I trek back to Iowa, and flip through the stations, I'm made aware that Godsmack is still being overplayed.

These offenders here plus anything from:
Mumford & Sons
Kings of Leon
Fall Out Boy.

Even Rolling Stone said the Kings of Leon weren't any good. That's pretty ballsy for them. I tried and tried to have it 'click' for KOL, and it never happened.

Mumford and Sons is nothing more than sing alongs to me. I hope there's more interest for MMJ Friday at that Waverly festival...they're more deserving.

Anyone else hate Freebird as much as I do?
