Wonder if this kid is an academic risk? With his offer list why So. Florida or ISU?

Would love to have him though!

To be fair I doubt a football player from florida has much interest in a Kansas ISU basketball game.

Unless he is buddies with SR and he talked him into coming up because Hilton is off the hook.

I'm not saying it isn't a legit visit. I am saying that sometimes kids do visit for other reasons. When I was in high school I took one of my free pass - visit a college days to visit an old girlfriend who was in college. Made a nice 3 day weekend out of it. Just saying.

It would be great if he was a signing day surprise.

While I agree somewhat, you dont take a visit this late in the process unless you have interest. If he gets to play with a friend thats even better and I am sure its a real reason he is coming this late.

Or unless you have a visit to burn and you figure might as well use it or lose it.

I'm not saying he's not interested, and I hope he is. It's just that so many are saying that him just taking a flyer is out of the question. It isn't.

How would you know that? It's a free trip to see a big game and visit a good buddy. He obviously has a visit to burn. Why not use it. It's up to CCM and CPR to seal the deal on this "free-loader". :jimlad:

Hayes likely would not have qualified and the staff likely knew that. We got a verbal from Darius White very near the time we lost Porter. We got a verbal from Cousin recently.

Hill leaving at RB doesn't necessarily mean we need to go find a RB since the talent pool is likely not that high at this point. We are plenty deep and have 2 RS Freshman from last year's class so we are plenty young as well.

Hope that answers your question.

(Speculation on my part) I think that Davario found out this Fall that a receiver is only as good as is his QB. Davario was an outstanding receiver when SR was throwing the ball. An above average receiver when someone else was QB'n.

Was your visit half way across the country? This isn't Barkley Hill or Collin Bevins driving an hour away to IC because he might as well check all of his options. This is a highly touted WR from FLORIDA coming to Iowa State. He could have visited any school he wanted if he just wanted a token visit. I think he has at least thought about coming here if he is taking a visit this late.

So you think we will just bank the remaining scholarships?

If he didn't know anyone here, I might agree. But it has been pointed out that his HS QB is right here in Ames.

Obviously I'm not going to be able to talk anyone down. It would be great if it happened, but please don't set yourself up for a big letdown if it doesn't. Just let it be a great big signing day surprise if it does. That's all I'm trying to say.

I'm saying Hayes' scholarship might have already been allotted because he wasn't going to qualify.

There is a chance Porter's scholarship went to White, but it could have been a complete blindside that Porter decommitted and it was just a coincidence we signed White near the time Porter decommitted. It is also possible the coaches didn't think Porter would qualify and his scholarship was already allotted to someone else, but I highly doubt that looking at how he talked on twitter.

I'm saying Cousin(DT) recently committed and is taking a new scholarship.

We aren't going to find a RB that would be worth it IMO, but the staff might take a stab. I have no idea.

Maybe he just realized that USF was in the Big East, not sure why someone with those kind of options would commit 4 years to that conference right now.
