Not sure why people are upset about this. If we need to add teams, which it sounds like we do, these are two solid options for what's available. Some people are acting like we have our choice of any two teams in country... Not quite that easy.

$$$ for a conference game the goes to pay Cincy and memphis.

I don't have the numbers in front of me but wouldn't that championship game have to generate $55-60 million to give them an equal cut? If the tv contracts are not renegotiated?

If we can have a championship game with 10 teams then why not milk that cash cow?

They may have to, need that championship football game.

agreed. I think 12 teams are necessary for ISU to thrive in football. Get some of those tough conf. games off the schedule and get to possibly add another non conf. game.

Why even pull in projects in the first place? Why not stay the same then? Or better yet, pick off P5 teams?

I think we are eventually going to 4 conferences and we're gonna have to be aggressive in breaking up the ACC or else the Big 12 is gone and ISU is going to be a shell.

So we can have a championship game...that's the whole reason we're even having this discussion.

Personally, I'd like to see the Big 12 stay pat, and if not having a CCG keeps the Big 12 out of the playoff, I'd first try everything to get the 12-member minimum rule changed before expanding. But...I'm not "in the know".

And what exactly could we offer an ACC team to entice them to join? Road trips to Ames and Lubbock? The ACC will be fine...they're big already, and if any teams are poached by another conference, they'll have the ability to replace them a lot easier than the Big 12 would (East Carolina, UCF, USF, UConn, etc.).

The Big XII is more likely to get two teams into the playoffs then zero due to not having a championship game. Remind me why we'd add anybody again?

Oh yeah, somebody wanted to get hits for their crappy website, and CF fell for it.

at this point a lot of realignment talk is wishful thinking coming from programs like uconn, cincy, BYU, UCf and USf, and who can blame them. Before the acc snatched up Louisville there were constantly rumors if Louisville to B12 created by Louisville themselves and their own media.

Unless Wisconsin beats Ohio St (which may happen). Yeah I am very concerned that the big 12 gets skipped because it is not the traditional power names representing the big12.

I'm not. After all the credibility issues that plagued the BCS, do you really think the selection committee wants to start the playoff era by leapfrogging what virtually everyone acknowledges is a better team in order to pick Ohio State?

Sadly I still see holes in the Big 12 ship.

The revenue generated by the big ten and SEC networks are staggering. Not even the great LHN can keep up

Computers have osu and Mich st as borderline top ten. Ap and coaches poll have tried hard to have one of them top 5 all year. Commitee seems to be splitting the difference.

Not a problem. If Memphis and Cinnci would somehow be added, it's doubtful that UT/OU/BU/TCU/OSU would settle for beating each other up in the "South" division while the "North" division plays tiddleywinks with each other...

Two words: legends. Leaders.

I hear you which is why I don't think it's crazy to buddy with the acc if we feel we can't ever add 2-6 from it. Big ACC24 gets every market except the west coast with some huge brands involved.

gimme BYU. The Big 12 would have Mormons, Baptists, and Christians. We would be missing the Methodists from SMU but 3 out of 4 is pretty good.

Also, if the Big 12 did add Cincy Tommy. Tuberville would be back in the Big 12 after leaving TT.

I would also take Cincy.

Agree with this. BYU and Cinci would be good additions

Geographically BYU is a horrible addition. But they are a good quality school with good sports programs.
