I'm fine with this. He's a good coach, respectful guy and a hard worker. We beat them at their place this year and I feel like we can match up with his style of play. I don't see us or the league getting dominated by Tech year in, year out.
He has the ability, but he hasn't proven that he's going to sustain the success yet. However, if he does build a dynasty, they are still easier to like than KU.
TBH, a lot of it has to do with age now. Lon's got 20 years on him.I think Beard is a GREAT coach. Just like I think Lon Kruger is a great coach. Let's not forget that OU was in the Final Four just a few years ago too. Point being, I'm not sure why there is this seeming mass hysteria throughout the nation about how great Beard is and how TTU is now going to be some sort of powerhouse. They will be a solid program with flashes of eliteness, just like OU. They will have rebuilding years like OU. They will consistently be a top half of the BXII. But it's not like all the sudden they're a blue blood.
OkState and KState for the most part are pretty similar to ISU. I root Big 8 before Big 12. Kansas ehhhhh, haha.Good for them.
I still don't hate TTU or Beard. I'd rather we were in the champ game, but any TTU fan I've met is good people. Could be my #2 B12 team if I thought about it.

I agree with both those. I knew some guys from Okie St who were cool. Same with K-State.
But I've started liking K-State less and less in recent years!
Uh yeah...you can't always trust the salary database, especially with private schools...but if I were Jay Wright I would maybe show this to my AD...3rd highest paid college basketball coach now? Ahh....doesn't seem quite right.
North of 4.5 million a year.
