Note to self....take your recruiting/career skills and start a business advising recruits on how to pick a school..
Given the mixed-to-negative feelings most of the Toledo fans seem to have about him as an OC, I guess I'm ok with this. Sure it's a hiccup in Campbell's early staff development and recruiting, but surely not an unanticipated one.
Not advocating for it one way or the other, but I do wonder if this at least opens the door to Sturdy being retained.

Ok, first of all, it's only been 3 days. It can change a man and maybe his heart changed but don't blame this on Matt Campbell. If the man wants to coach at a different school then let him! It's not matts fault if all the previous players are asking him to coach and he has an opportunity to someday move up in the rankings.
Who cares about the offers? All he did was help us. There's no way it hurt. It's not like he being called to be the coach at Texas
I do think the timing on this is very interesting. Of course everything is rumors, but there were reports that the Toledo AD said he was going to hire externally, and Candle was announced as coming here almost right away.
If the AD has said he was a candidate right away, I'd have to think he would have waited before coming here.
It makes it seem like the Toledo AD struck out on the desired external candidates - or something else changed - that made him come back to someone who he hadn't considered a candidate right away.

How clueless are you? Its exactly Campbell's fault. This is a rookie/amateur mistake--exactly the type of thing hiring Campbell as somebody with previous head coaching experience was supposed to avoid.
If you're a recruit and you had been recruited by Rhoads staff who gets fired, and then this Candle clown calls you and starts recruiting you, and then a few days later you find out he is not at Iowa State but at Toledo--what would your perception of Iowa State be at that point. Would you think we have our ***** together and this is a place you'd want to attend?
Not to mention I wouldn't be surprised if some assistants that were going to come decide to stay now--just wait and see.

Honestly, I think this might be a good idea. I heard a lot about candle and him not being consistent. Maybe we could go after a P5 OC. Maybe a younger one but knows the ropes. Just a thought...
