My doctor told me that mounjaro is actually a combination of existing drugs, and you CAN have a pharmacist create a compound for you that is only about the price you mentioned in Mexico. He might consider looking into that.

The US totally gets screwed in prescription medication. The same situation that the OP mentioned happed to a client of the F-in L. he gets his meds in Canada. They have generic where US does not. Total rip off
That's going away because the FDA decided the shortage was over. So no legal way now in the US to get that other than paying lilly their $1500 per month
This. Any compounding pharmacy offers versions of this. The one down the street from me in our small village in WI offers it for $250 and they don't take insurance on it.
@deadeyededric Have your BIL search compounding pharmacy near him and they will fill his prescription.
My uncle does this too. They also get pet meds there a lot cheaper and bring us anything we need.

My wife's brother gets his insulin in Mexico, had little or no insurance before he got on Medicare at 65. My folks got medicine for my dad when he was alive from Canada and it was cheaper than what he was getting through the VA by quite a bit. They pick up some inhalers that was something like .20 cents on the dollar to what they were paying here through the VA. My mom was shocked it was exactly the same box and company that they were getting here.

Back before amoxicillin went generic my mom had cellulitis on her foot. I picked up a bottle for her (no part D then) and it was around that $100 for a bottle. A few weeks later I was sent water meds for my pigs, amoxicillin. Same sized bottles so I picked the label off. Was the same thing and some had the paper that told you how to mix for human use. I checked and those bottles were under 10 bucks. Difference was human or animal use, not the product. Now amoxicillin is like $2-3 per bottle.
They were going to check both St. Joe and KC tomorrow. Your advice is greatly appreciated
We are doomed that this is/was a thing. Just sleep walking through what should be completely unacceptable to all of us.
