I'm not going to give up on Campbell. A lot of personnel issues and that's on Rhoads.

The reason the team lost wasn't due to personnel. The team didn't do the basic fundamental things that a team needs to do to win a football game. The exact same things that Rhoads coached teams didn't do. If the team continues to do this MC will be going back to Mount Union with his 14" blueprint for for success and it won't matter how many good his personnel is.
Easily the highlight of the night for me was seeing Niang again. No question about it.

Maybe so. But he was never as incompetent as Campbell and his guys were tonight. They were worse than the players and the players were bad.
It was not a well called game by ISU at all. It looked exactly like the same offense and play calling as last year to me.
Not one single pass to a TE tonight, am I right? I thought that was going to be a big part of our offense this season? I'm not sold on Manning as a playcaller yet. I'm sure he's probably a good OL coach, but not sure about him as an OC at all.

ISU can improve on the margins but you are looking at what we are for this year. Without good line play you won't have a consistent offense. Without a consistent offense the defense gets gashed in the fourth quarter.
Further, the game was just plain sloppy in terms of penalties and foul ups. I put that on the coaches and they need to fix that stuff. It is correctable.

whatever. I still like Campbell. But to act like his debut was anything short of a ducking failure on his staff and him is delusional.

Hard to believe there's a meltdown after the very first game, with a brand new staff in rebuild mode. Oh wait, no it isn't.
Frankly I am not sold on any of them. They can't possibly be as bad as they appeared, but even so.

Uni played terrible and they still beat us easily.

You must have a short memory of the Paul Rhoads era. NDSU game ring a bell? KU 2014? Could list many many others.
To pretend that Campbell and his staff were anything other than awful is silly.
I'm sure they'll get better. But it was more embarassing than the ducking ndsu game. They were at least goodbye. Uni did not play good at all.
Here's my take for what it's worth-
Defense played decent in stretches until they got tired. Most of what they gave up was against individual effort by their QB.
Offense shot themselves in the foot repeatedly. When they were moving the ball, they stopped themselves with penalties.
If the offense can play a clean game and keep the defense rested, I think we can be competitive. A lot of work to do for sure.
