****** news. He was an odd bird, but took life in stride and not too seriously. I’ll always admire him for that.

Sad news. Didn’t know he was battling cancer.

Once I saw the news one of the first things it came to my mind was “Wow, what a coincidence that he passed away the same year that the PAC-12 dissolved.”

He was one of the most dominant, if not the most dominant, college players I've ever seen. Can't imagine the NIL money he'd be getting if he had played in the current era.

I was 11 years old when the Blazers won the championship and have loved Bill Walton since. I saw him one time at a Dylan concert in Phoenix towering over the crowd and having a great time. RIP.

Bummer, I loved Walton. I usually turn down the volume watching games, when he was on I turned it up.

Could have been one of the best centers to every play the game if he wasn't hurt so often. Unstoppable when healthy.

Bummer. My first memories of college hoops were Bill Walton's great UCLA teams. They had something like a 90 game win streak broken against Notre Dame on a nationally televised game.

88, so you're right there.
Bill loved the game and knew so much. He'll definitely be missed.
Yeah and his fun loving personality really overshadowed his knowledge.
He really did know the game. Smart guy.

This is sad news. Bill was so unique, there will never be one like him. And CBB is worse off today because of it.

Commentators are just too serious at times or trying to play up catch phrases. Just go out there and have fun.

That Walton died a day after one of the things we was most passionate about ended.

Bill Walton didn’t want to live in a world without the Pac and now he won’t.
My thought exactly. In his first interview after it was announced UCLA was leaving the Pac 12 you could tell he was heartbroken. I can't find the video but he basically said "I love the Pac 12" and looked away and couldn't muster anything else.
