They can't get anyone else to advertise on their network, and have that time to fill - can't just go to a rainbow screen...

Last year was a LOT worse. Although I always found it funny when last year there would be a Hawkeye related ad followed up with a Victims of Violent Crimes ad - talk about irony:laugh:

not to defend the BTN, but have you seen the NFL network after about 10PM? The only commercials are for the NFL network and the United Way. I think it's really hard to get advertising on those specialty networks during certain time slots.

And to be fair, I think any of us would rather have a Big XII Network than being stuck on Mediacom and FSN all the time.

I'd LOVE to have a Big XII network and they could advertise Snuggies and Slankets the whole time, I wouldn't care.

Naw... it's gotta be Rotel. The network is kinda like the Disney channel, where they just advertise themselves, but Rotel is everywhere. They were they're only commercial last year.

I still cant get enough of "COME TO PENN STATE!!!"

They may advertise for themselves a lot, but note that every single Big10 game is being televised right now (there are 7 games going on at the same time)... (I have 5 big 10 network channels on plus the osu and minnesota games on espn).

I wish the Big XII could do the same. Go panthers!

If you were an advertiser, would you want to be associated with some of the crap their announcers have been saying?

So... if mediacom would offer their channel in HD, itd be comparable quality.

I long for the day we have a Big 12 Network.

They were talking about it on the radio last week and said they don't need to worry about advertising dollars too much because they make more than enough from the Dish's, Direct's and Mediacoms of the world.

They also scratch a check to each school for about 6 million or so each year, which would be nice. I think that check is the only thing making Iowa athletics self-sustaining, wheras we need public $$ to get by.

The HD signal is also the best out there, which I don't understand.

There might be people to buy it, but it still costs a ton to produce. Not to mention the BigX has way bigger media markets than the Big XII. And they split revenue evenly.

There are at least 4 or 5 major showstopping roadblocks to a Big XII network.

We are self-sustaining as well, by the way. We just don't spend anywhere near the money Iowa does.

Not to mention the extra 10 million Iowa receives from this channel for their athletic budget.

I'm sure Pollard and ISU won't want a Big 12 channel without proper adversting even for an extra 10 mill a year for the department.
