Geno's in Preston, IA. I have no problem making the 3 hour dive from Ames just to go there and eat

Fun fact: Iowa is the largest consumer of frozen pizza in the United States.

Per capita, I hope...although it would be pretty damned cool if Iowa's 3 million people eat more frozen pizza than California's 38 million.

The late Borderline Pizza in Chester, Iowa is the best I've ever had. Their recipe lived on at R&B Pizza in Osage which has been recently bought by a new owner and renamed. I don't know what the new name is, but I'll be looking to try it out sometime.

Mabe's in Decorah is probably my favorite currently. They deliver to Toppling Goliath's tap room. Hard to beat that pizza/beer combo.

In central Iowa, Pizza Pit and Jeff's are among my favorites in terms of overall pizza quality. Fong's and Big Tomato have the best topping combinations, but probably aren't as good in terms of sauce/crust.

Eastern Iowa, gotta go with Falbo's in IC. Every time I partied there, the night couldn't end without a giant $2 slice of Falbo's.

I have to agree with the bolded. I had a buddy who lived a block away from Falbos. At the end of the night we ended up getting pizza and I just gave them $6 like at Jeffs, and that was the first time I ever experienced heartburn. It was delicious though.

Happy Joe's taco pizza and Harris Pizza (Davenport) as well as all of the Harris spin-offs.

Nothing else in the state of Iowa is even close.

Great Plains is always great

Also love Bob Roes and Jerry's in Sioux City. Jerry's crust is the absolute best for cold pizza, and the cheese is at least a solid quarter inch thick.

Breadeaux Pizza is not bad. They have two division of stores after a nasty recipe lawsuit.

With all the food threads going around I thought i would ask where people think the best pizza in the state of Iowa is?

I love me some Old Chicago double deckeroni, but I think I might have to vote for Zoey's in Marion.

It's in the freezer section of your local grocer. It's 99 cents and it's called Totino's. Also, it helps if you're so drunk you can't find your *** with both hands.

Parts Unknown
In no particular order:

Great Plains (Prairie Special on Denver Crust)
Fong's
Black Market (Iowa Chop Pizza)
The OP (Four Star)
Pizza Pit (Would LOVE ordering Pizza Twins when I was going to ISU)
Casey's Breakfast Pizza (always goes well with bloody mary's at those early morning tailgates)

Cedar Rapids
Zoey's in Marion for sure
I'd take Cedar Rapids' Tomasos (Detroit Style) over Zoeys any day of the week. My vote is for Tomasos as my favorite from anywhere, including Italy (I know this is a bold statement). We just went this past spring to Italy and while pasta and wine was the best in the world there, I truly feel like America has taken Italian pizza and perfected it.

Tamaso's Detroit style CB & Kraut!
