I haven't bought a TV in a long time, but we had a power surge last week that destroyed all of our electronic devices. So I'm back in the market. Anybody have some good recommendations for me? I'm trying to browse Amazon but there are five billion of them and I have no idea what to pick. And if CF Sponsor Nebraska Furniture has some deals coming up let me know.

That was our last TV, and I do really like their products, however they seems to be a the most expensive units on Amazon. I'm open to anything and am probably the least brand loyal person ever.

I'm an AV snob, so I have expensive taste. But I bought a 46" Visio for a bedroom TV a few months back and it is a solid set.

I probably wouldn't be happy with it to build a theater experience around, but in 'bang for your buck' it can't be beat

I'll second the Vizio. Their latest line that they've come out with is amazing for sports and I'd assume it would be great for gaming as well though I'm not in to that.

Thirded. My last 3 TVs have been Vizio and I've liked all of them.

Way up there
We jut got a 50in Vizio for under $500 at Target ($50ish discount using Target card), I was worried about going from a 42in to a 50 but the new bigger TV was actually physically smaller than the 42in. It's great for gaming and sports. We love it.

I'm a converted samsung buyer. I had a Vizio a few years back that caught fire while I was at work. Not really sure why but its made me shy away from them since. Thankfully it only managed to destroy itself and my carpet.

NFM is guaranteed to have the lowest prices anywhere. They scan the internet every day and update their prices to make sure nobody is lower. I'd go check them out for sure.

Hey Bryce,
I recently bought both a Vizio and Samsung tv (both under 50"). The samsung was a smart tv and I have really enjoyed that. It is also a better all around tv. However, it was almost 350 dollars more expensive and I don't think it is that much better! I currently play Xbox One on my Vizio and absolutely love it. I was surprised by how dark the darks were and how vibrant the colors were. As state, the Samsung is a much better tv, but for your dollar you can't beat the Vizio. I also have a 40" Sony tv and have enjoyed that. It has been really good to my family and hasn't had any problems going on 7 years. We also own a Philips, and it is okay. For the money I would say Vizio is your choice if you are not looking to spend a whole lot. You can actually get a good Vizio for much less than your 600-700 range (got mine on clearance this past spring for 425 dollars for a 48").

I recently got a Panasonic 55" LED 1080p Smart TV for $700, so I'd imagine you should be able to get an awesome 46" for that price.

Does the 240 Hz help or hurt the bigger the TV? My goal is to talk my wife into a 70" LED for the new basement. And I feel the 240 Hz gives the better sport pictures. Am I correct in that? Any experience with Vizio or Sharp at this size?

I would go to Nfm and just look at their selection to Ser what you like. I assume the dsm store is at least the same size as the one here in Omaha.

Personally I've been sticking to LG LEDs lately, but also here Samsung is good.

I didn't like the glossy finish on most Samsung's the last time I shopped.

NFM is a great place to learn and see allthe current options out there.

I have a Vizio, Panasonic and Samsung. The Vizio 46" is in our living room and gets watched more than the others. I have to say it has been a workhorse, a great performer and a great value. I got it for $449 after $50 rebate from my electric company for replacing an energy sucking tube TV.

The Samsung is probably a better TV but is in a room where it doesn't get used as much and I haven't had it as long to compare long-term performance. It was an awesome buy though because it is in the basement and I went with a plasma since it is a darker room. It is a 51" and I think I got it for just over $500. If you are open to plasma you can save a ton because they are on the way out.

My Panasonic I would say is just OK but it certainly isn't one of their top of the line models so I won't complain too much.

Our high-end units last year used Samsung as the majority of the larger TVs, and Insignia for the smaller TVs. We are in the process of doing a conversion to all LGs. But, as others have said, go look at a bunch side by side.
