Is it still bad if i also own a student ticket but do this? I dont do it but i'm just curious

I was wondering also...we buy three tickets. Sometimes we bring a friend, but frequently I will just give the tickets to one of the lab rats. They usually sit someplace other than the seat next to me - probably down in or near the Alley. Hope that's not a problem...

The problem with sitting in the student section without a student ticket, is there are 2500 seats for students and 3500 tickets sold. (I think that is still the number, by ivam basing it off of last year) The students are already out of room for big games like Michigan, Kansas or even Iowa.

(Of course, I have student tickets, but I don't always sit in the student section...and have had friends without student tickets sit with me in the student section, so I am being a complete hypocrite here.)

In regards to the entry policy for students, the students lost the privledge to all cram into the stairs last year against Kansas. They broke some doors, ran past ticketers without being scanned, and caused other problems when the doors open (and before the doors open, like lighting a Kansas fan's hat on fire, in the middle of a large crowd of people.) And the single file line is the fairer method anyways.

Also, don't let what happened last year against Kansas with the Bill Self technical happen here. Be loud, always. Be loud when were up, be louder when were down.

I don't have tickets so I'll be cheering on the players a lot, but I'll also be seeing what you guys bring to the table as well.

Section 205 will be ready to sit and politely clap.

205 is going to hate me this year if that's how they get down. I'm up and down physically and emotionally the entire game and about the farthest thing from quiet! Row 14 seats 1 and 2 will be representin for sure!

Will somebody please get the Cheerleaders to rub Dickie V's bald head. Also don't forget to pass Dickie up the student section.

Regarding Hilton staff and students, this years student entry policy is a bit ridiculous IMO. If you dont know how it works, basically no one is allowed to wait on the north steps anymore. Security makes us stand in a single file line that wraps around to the west side and literally walk up the steps 10-20 people at the time. Its about the most ridiculous thing I've ever been a part of. Once they opened gates at 11, took us 30 minutes to get to the door from about midway back in the line last Sunday. I understand the whole safety thing or whatever cus it got out of hand last year but this new thing straight sucks.

There's my rant for the day.

And how they think the section of barriers that has one tiny strand of rope to keep kids in single file is beyond me. That is going to go very very poorly against KU and potentially this Sunday. However, this does allow those who get there earliest to have their pick of seats. I hated always being one of the first 10-20 people there, but ended up farther from the front than I should've been because one door opens before yours or the ticket person doesn't know what they're doing. As long as they find a way to make sure kids aren't jumping those barriers come the big games, I'm okay with it.

Anyway. I couldn't be more pumped about this game. Last years Kansas game was easily the most excited I had ever been for a game in my entire college career, but this one and rivaling that

also incredibly inefficient, maybe have more than one scanner ready to go when you open up the doors to 2500+ students. i think they could have students on the stairs, just open the doors earlier and have as many scanners as possible near the students, alternately allow students in all doors and you'll disperse the pressure at the north doors

I still don't understand why they don't check the tickets while the people are standing inline, way ahead of time, and let them move from the line to the steps then. That does not solve the problem of the students running to their seats, but other than having a lot of guards there to stop them from running, I'm not sure you can prevent that. It's pretty obvious they have some real liability concerns.

Also, I would think on some games like this one, where it is sold out ahead of time, it would not be a bad idea to open the doors for students an 1 1/2 or 2 hours before tip-off. Keeps people from having to freeze outside as long, might keep the crowd under control more, and besides, your concessions might do a little more business. It might be a good idea to just open the doors earlier because even the regular ticket holders are probably going to want to get there earlier to beat traffic and get better parking. If sold out crowds become a regular thing this year or in the future, I would think they would adjust their procedures.

Agreed. I'll be very interested to hear if there are people in line early who miss tip-off because of the length of the student line on Sunday. If you arrive at Hilton by, say, 3:50 for a 4:00 game, there is no way that you should miss tip-off. But I worry that may happen.

They may actually be turned away if they arrive 10 minutes before a major game. They didn't have to turn anyone away for Kansas last year, but they were close. They oversold the student section by 1,000 tickets.

Section 205 does not approve, especially if you block our view while we're seated.

How did you come to be their leader/spokesperson? Was there an election of some kind or did you just show up, beat the **** out of the biggest old dude there, and issue a warning to all that anybody daring enough to challenge your rule will be next? :)

Who does one contact in regard to the student entry policy? Straight to JP or some kind of Hilton administrator? I just have a couple questions/concerns as to how this is all going to work for the hyped games.
