The thing that amazes me about Pawn Stars is the bankroll those guys must be running. It's pretty serious for a pawn shop to have the kind of money to throw around to purchase an item that may or may not go back up for sale, and if it does it could be months before a relevant auction comes up.
I agree. And everything they buy has to be kept for a month, I believe, in a room for the authorities to look it over and make sure it is not stolen/fenced merchandise...that would take some serious cash flow.
I don't know if you caught the episode where a guy brought in a home movie of FDR and wanted $90,000 for it...Rick didn't make an offer on it but said if the movie would have shown FDR in his wheelchair he would have paid $90,000 for it on the spot without question.
I guess it's good to have a pawn shop in Vegas...gotta get that bank to go to the casinos...or get some cash to keep eating after the casino takes your bank...so people will sell about anything, apparently.
