The gal in Biology 109 that asked the question during the reproduction part of the class, "Why does it taste so salty?" The guys around me started asking what her phone number was. The gal did not even realize what she had said. To this day I can still remember the whole classes reaction and the teacher as she had to cancel the rest of the class.

I miss being hungover as **** and saying "Ah I can miss this class, who cares". Other than that I still live in Ames and love living here.

I could come up with an endless list of things I miss - but since I now live a stones throw form Ames, I indulge in most of my Ames faves on a regular basis.

But, now I'm work'n for the man, have the house, the cars, etc... I really miss that feeling of complete freedom when you've taken the last final before summer. There's no nagging feeling about studying. No trying to get assignments done and make whatever shift you're assigned at some low-rent job to make ends meet. It's just you and a few months off to regroup. A lazy summer in Ames, sitting on the front porch listening to a roomie play the guitar. Sure, there's hard work during the day to save up for the next two semesters, but it's not like my career now, in my summer jobs I could just walk away when I put my hours in - I didn't carry the load home.

Do you mean Scott Stangeland? He use to have a DJ setup up at all the tailgates in the mid to late 80's. Tailgates use to be a blast and you could still take in your boda's in to the games. One of my favorite "activities" was the terrace parties at the Memorial Union that the Maintenance Shop sponsored during the Fall and Spring semesters. VISHEA was a 4 day event and our dorm floor always went canoeing on Thursday on the Boone River usually during flood stage. Good times, good times.

Don't remember his name, but in the late 80's there was a guy from Decorah (I think) that would lead everyone in the Y.M.C.A. song at the tailgates in the North lot of JTS just before everyone would head in to the FB game. We were all pumped by that guy and his antics. What a fun time. Also miss playing intramural broom ball at midnight, and playing 500 and Risk in the hall lounges of the Towers all night long.

, I remember going to my first porno in Ames. There was a porn theater right across Lincoln Way from Friley and a bunch of the guys decided to go one night on a lark. I was a dumb freshman from small-town Iowa and had never been to anything like that, so I went along. In the movie, there was an orgy scene with lots of food involved. They were literally wallowing in the food after awhile. That's when I got the house award.

All these horny college guys were staring intently at the screen breathing hard. It was a little too weird for me and when it gets weird for me, I break it up with humor. So right in the middle of the orgy, I sighed and said, "look at all that food."
.

Me thinks this left a mark on you.

-Just being able to walk around from party to party when the weather was decent, with no real plan for your evening, and having a blast for about $10.

-Being so broke that you made it a point to drink at Mickey's, in order to eat free hot dogs for dinner.

-Flying Burrito at 2AM.

-Urinating anywhere except the actual bathroom at Lumpy's.

-Living with your buddies.

-Throwing parties the friday night before football games, getting about 2 hrs of sleep in, and getting in line to tailgate before the sun came up.

-Hilton Magic actually existing.

-Freshman girls the first weeknd of school.

-NEVER having to drive on the weekends to get to bars or parties.

-Watching road games at West Cyde Wings.

FACs with the Blue Band on the MU patio. My buddies and I were rock climbers, and we'd scale the wall up from the sidewalk to keep from paying. A guy on my dorm floor tended bar, and he was always good for a handful of beer tickets. Good times.

Absolutely. FAC Terrace Party at the MU. Straight from Carver to a party with music, babes and beer in minutes!
