I would rather play UNC or Oregon. But, I'd rather plan UVA than KU again.

I would definitely take Oregon. But I feel like UVA is the next best one seed to play. Silver's ELO rating gives us a 35% chance of advancing while Indiana only has a 27% chance of advancing against UNC. Additionally, in looking at the ingame probabilities from yesterday, Kansas and UNC never really went below an 80-85% chance of winning, while UVA dipped down to almost 50/50 with Butler. I think we can play with these guys, and with a solid focus, win.

Edit: On the other hand, Kenpom loves him some UVA, so I go back and forth.

They aren't too happy either

They seem to take it quite personally that others don't like their board format. Reading their board is like this

I've felt that this team has as much talent as any ISU squad in my 44 years.

I've also felt that this team has been greatly hampered by lack of depth, JM distractions, and a lack of hard nosed effort.

That past 2 games we've played hard, smart, basketball. Now that's probably related to the level of competition as much anything...but as CW points out they seem to be focused.

We're not going to destroy VA...but we'll be a damn tough out IMHO.

Pretty much comes down to foul trouble, imo. Our starting 5/6 needs to play 90% of the game. When they dont, we get exploited.

I like that we are "Plains Hokies." Does that make them "East Coast Hawkeyes"?

Have a couple friends who went to VaTech; from what I understand, UVA alumni have the same sort of self-important elitism that comes out of Iowa City. Sounds like a good fit.

Same here...oh wait.

And I like parts of Virginia - mainly the coast and near DC, but it's pretty funny. Anybody with half a brain would never think that everyone who goes to a major college or university just stays in the state after graduation. Which is interesting, considering Virginia is actually a great academic school and ranked in the top 30 overall by US News. Poster must not have actually went to college there. I expect more intellect from someone who graduated from UVA.

You're not helping refute their argument. You basically just confirmed that it sucks to live in Iowa (your opinion, not mine).

How? Do you think that leaving a place and living elsewhere automatically means you think it sucks? I never once stated my opinion about that part - but thanks for putting words in my mouth.

That's not a great assumption. I go to a univeristy which is supposed to be a very good academic school, and I'm always surprised how dumb some of the undergrads are.

It was actually in Hoiberg's first year - with guys like Jake Anderson and Jamie Vanderbeeken. ISU won by 13 points at Virginia. This is before Virginia got good again though as they finished 16-15 that year. It would be like Minnesota bragging about how they beat us at home in 2007 when we had McDermott coaching. It means nothing to the present day.
