There's nothing "fairweather" about cheering for the school you actually attend.

I love the argument "well, what if you were a Hawkeye fan as a kid? You can't just change your allegiances because you wanted to be an engineer." When I was a little kid, I used to **** my pants and think girls were icky. Was I supposed to stay an incontinent asexual for the rest of my life, or was I supposed to grow and adapt?

I hear ya, and I'd be lying if I didn't think the last two sentences were really funny, cuz they are. Kudos. But I do think there is a difference from being in 8th grade (having a mind of your own) compared to not being able to decipher that peeing yourself isn't as cool as using that big porcelain thing or that boobies are totally awesome.

Grew up on the western side of the state, born in nebby and raised a neb fan. Entire family are die-hard. I got sick of it and when I decided where I was going to college, as a sophmore in high school, I cut all allegiances to kNU and became a cyclone fan. Mom was ****** when I threw my husker coat away, but, w/e. My children will learn that they will go to ISU if it has a good program that they want to pursue. They will not attend EIU. I will pay for Drake or Creighton for medical if they so choose, or somewhere else. Scholarships be damned.

All In.

I hope you're not serious about that medical school thing. It's possible to hate the hoks and still recognize that the University of Iowa is a top-notch academic institution...

...if your kids want to study something useless like theater, never find a job, and be a financial liability to you for the rest of their lives.

You think Klein goes to ISU without a scholly to there? It's a bit different being a player than a fan. If he were paying for his schooling and went to ISU by choice just for the schooling, then fine. But I don't think that's the case.

I can totally respect growing up a fan of school "A" and attending school "B" and still cheering on school "A", but NOT WHEN THEY PLAY SCHOOL "B"!!!! That is YOUR SCHOOL *******.

What exactly is your contention here, and how does it refute that most Iowa fans on ISU's campus are in general DBag's?

I question why any Hok would go to ISU since I have heard many say their engineering program is better than ISU's...

My personal favorite situation is when Cedar Falls kids go to ISU and then choose to root against ISU twice a season, UNI and Iowa...

Sorry, being an UNI fan is just an excuse to root against ISU twice. (currently living in Waterloo and I get more guff from UNI fans than Iowa fans actually. pretty funny

I'd argue that paying for an education should make you more invested in the school you are going to..

In general. Nice.

Stereotypes run a-plenty this week. It's pretty funny.

Im sayin that playing football at a school because they offered you a scholarship is different than picking to go to a school because of academics. That's my contention.

Folks it's not that hard, I don't care about the degrees and what school has what. It's ISU, you support ISU or just don't where another schools shirt. Say what you want but if you wear another schools shirt on campus your just saying In Your Face. AK is spot on here and the rest of us fans need to enforce his wishes when we see unwanted clothing paradeing around campus.

Bahahahhaha.

I've always loved how you begin your onomatopoeic laughter with a "b". It adds so much, and really conveys just how serious a business your jokes are. Bahahaha > Hahahaha, and it's not even close.

You may have a 50-50 chance of loving that...We could get into the nature/nurture debate all day as any college educated person who took even one psychology class would know, but I know that if you tell your kids "you have to be Cyclone fan and can't like the U of I" they will either A) totally buy into your Cyclone pride or B) Totally rebel against you and become a hawkeye just to spite you.

I'm glad my parents did neither.

I go to Iowa, why you ask? I want to attend medical school and got a scholarship for a health science major at Iowa. Something Iowa state couldn't provide me. However, I'm a big time Iowa State fan. Athletically I'll always support Iowa State, and to a certain degree I support Iowa because I'm getting my education there. If I was to chose whether to watch an ISU or Iowa game, I'd chose ISU anyday, does that make me a bad person? No, you should support your school and I do but I also grew up an Iowa State fan and I will never stop liking ISU regardless of where I attend school, but it'd be stupid of me to pass up a scholarship and a school with an excellent medical school just because I was an ISU fan, just saying.

My personal belief is we win 5 in a row and then end the series for ever. Play Missouri State every year instead. Also, keep UNI off the schedule because they actually do do nothing for our schedule as they are in a lower friggin division.

I don't think I'll ever understand the wearing-the-rival's-colors idiocracy... Almost as stupid as the "house divided" gear. How could you marry the enemy??? Or procreate with them??? Please stop watering down the gene pool!
