I hope they can, but I don't see TCU putting 2 games together back to back. Plus KU will remember how to defend a drive on the basket, even without Vick.
TCU has a stud at point, long athletic guys down low, and plenty of trey power across the roster. If the gym's not filled with squawks, TCU should give them another loss. And Vegas recognizes that.

Sometimes, I think people need perspective. From losing my mom 3 years ago, to putting my favorite (and young, 4 year old) dog down due to kidney failure in September, the outcome of a basketball game just pales in comparison.

THIS. I always make the mistake of looking at the FB comments and get so riled up at how idiotic some of our fan base is after these types of losses. They don't understand the bigger picture and how things looked last year. I type out some message along these lines, then delete it because it'll just bring more morons out of the woodshed. I usually try to add some perspective, like at the end of the day this is a game with 18-22 year olds and when someone is saying fire Prohm for one game?? Yikes. I'd like to know how perfect that person is at their job, where they get to be on TV, get scrutinized for every little detail and still be as positive as Prohm is.

Absolutely, and for a little more perspective, a lot of times you will see our players posting pictures with their friends from opposing teams, smiles all around. These are kids, and this is a game.

There isn’t a special ISU football or basketball team in its history that hasn’t had a disappointing loss at some point... seems to me that the TCU coach outsmarted our coach as much as anything else...

No ****.

I had some life stuff happening the past week and Saturday's game, while a good distraction including discussion about what's next, hardly mattered.

I used to get totally warped about this kind of thing but really after the 14-15 season (I'd like to think so anyway) I've learned to take things in stride.

Still get nervous as hell during the games and want wins but it's just not worth letting it take over your well-being.

Yep. I'm as big of a Cyclone fan as anyone and shout at the TV, my wife usually walks around the house and looks for other things to do during those times. But, after being around her and her profession, I think it keeps me at bay for having plenty of perspective that there are bigger things in life than to get so angry about some kids losing a bball game.

I dealt with this loss like a man. I finished cleaning the house and went shopping with my wife.
I did the same (minus shopping).

What did it for me was the 2013 football loss to UNI. I was so furious that I wouldn't talk to anyone aside from our tailgating group for a day, including my wife (then girlfriend.) It made me realize that I can't get so emotionally invested in these games.

The loss on its on own isn't a horrible one - a projected 8/9 seed beat us. But to me its 1) HOW we lost and 2) it was in Hilton.

We looked like knew we were playing at home against a mid-level team and we should be able to go through the motions and win. And it seems like we forgot how to play defense.

Very different than the K-State loss where we blew a 5 pt lead with a minute left. We could point to single events that lost us that game - missed 1 and 1s, not stopping a drive for a layup, etc. There wasn't that for TCU - we just got worked.

But losing 2 games at home to teams we are better than stings. No question.

Those 2 home losses will likely prevent us from winning the conference. We've had several seasons where we were really close to doing that in the past decade, and there's always 1 or 2 head scratching bad losses that separates us from KU at the end.

Stop what? Talking about how those two losses stings? That's the entire point of the thread.

The season isn't over. We will regroup. We will go to the NCAA tournament. Things are fine. But those two losses at home still suck.

Right now the ONLY game I want back was the first KSU game... If you're more than just an ISU basketball fan, scan the scores each and every night for these VERY common rarities. Great teams stumble, bad teams get hot, shots fall, guys are hitting walls... Every team in the nation has suffered lulls and ruts this season, last season and for every season to come.

I try to take the long-view. This loss disgusted me, but I love everything about this team, coaching staff, program and fan-base.

I have a 1 day rule to revel in a win and a 1 hour rule to beat inanimate objects after a loss.

What is fun is after a loss, there is a really big core of fans who keep it in perspective and lay into the dwindling group of negative ninnies. It's become its own little sport.

KU seems to always have one head scratching loss each season, but they back it up with 1 or 2 wins on the road against the top of the conference. We made up for the KSU loss with a win in Lubbock, and have a chance to make up for the TCU loss Saturday. However, that also means we cant have anymore unexpected loses. In other words, we need to win out if we want to win the conference outright.

I'm disappointed by loses, but by the time the post game call in show is over I've moved on. It has no direct bearing on my life and I am not letting something I can't control ruin a day for me.

No matter how good a team is, there will always be something that they struggle with offensively or defensively. This ISU team does not play well in physical games. KSU, TX, TCU really get physical on defense and love to attack the basket. Prohm and the team have to figure something out this week if they are going to compete for the Big 12 championship. Hard to be super disappointed in the results for the season so far, based on what the expectation were and the luck the team has had with injuries.

KSU loss was different. That was just a team that didn't close against another good team. This loss is just bad. Just a horrible defensive effort. That is likely from guys coming out thinking they could sleep walk to a win instead of having to show up and prove it.
We definitely didn't close against KSU but we also were flat on defense similar to the TCU game. Against TCU, not only was the 3 pt shooting bad, but some of the shots weren't even close. They just really seemed tired or maybe their ranking went to their heads. Hard to say for certain.

Yep. And may cost us a shot at playing in Des Moines.

I'm very happy with where this team is at. But when you are so close to a conference title, it makes the losses, especially at home, feel much worse.
