Its Ok to admit you were afraid of the wrestlers when you were in school.
Unfortunately with the changes, regardless of how popular a sport is, etc is not going to matter if that sport can not figure out a way to at least break even. I would assume every sport that loses money is at risk, not saying they all will go but I would not say any are safe, especially any mens sports that lose money.

Im not even sure if it will be about paying the players in those sports as we dont know how the actual breakdown will be for each sports income, but the fact that any net negative is going to be looked at much harder now. Then if it is a requirement to actually pay the players from sports that do not earn positive revenue there will be even more incentive to eliminate as many as possible.

Paying players is not going to be a good thing for college sports, Im afraid.

Maybe because WBB NIL is starting to demand money. When you are already losing a ton, and now you are supposed to pay players??? Their fans need the hurt and not just Football basically carrying the water for them.

My opinion on this is if you can monetize yourself fine, but yeah on a money losing program don't be expecting to get paid. I know Audi has done some stuff with Kemna and a local bank up in Algona and that's great more power to her but most the players in the smaller sports WBB on down ought to be picking their school on their degree and not what they hope to get in NIL funds because not enough people care about their sport to make it break even. No reason to throw money at them now. Most these sports should have been grateful for what they had.

Forever true!!

It's like anything that involves money-- it's a cost/benefit analysis. Do I get enough benefit from being at the game to justify the cost. The cost goes up, but the benefits stay the same. And at some point it's just not worth going.

I'm glad people keep showing up, and I'll keep going to a game or two a year. But it's becoming easier and easier to pass on attending for the simplicity and cost effectiveness of staying home.

Not exactly sure.
People who say they enjoy the game better at home, what is it? On away games I go nuts because they very seldom show the reams lining up and how the defense then lines up. You don’t see the whole team, generally most but not all, you can’t see how the Dbacks are moving around or lined Up. Sometimes they give you the stupid ground angle from behind the offense. Other times they dont tell you the situation and instead talk about a stinking cat. I hate watching at home.

Gross sales isn’t profit
True, but EIU had to make a profit over a million dollars, no reason ISU would not do the same. When every dollar counts, then picking up an extra million or more seems like a smart idea. Go to any professional event and they are making a killing off beer sales, this idea that ISU would not make much money is silly.

Right now I think nearly all goes to the three you mentioned. Some will hate me, but I want FB and MBB to get 90% of it, or more. They will raise the tide for everyone and then open up funds for the other sports.
Guessing FB and MBB get 95%+. That's how WeWill was setup.

By your dumb, I assume you think the average American isn’t vastly overweight? I’ve spent the last three years feeling like a sardine with overweight ticket holders, I’m 190 and barely get my body into my seat. @alarson
Its the major reason we get the seat backs on all four of our seats, not only is it more comfortable, it also saves your space.

It's undeniably worse for taking in the all-22, but I'd bet an extremely small percentage of fans try to watch games that way anyway.

At home the drinks/food are free, the seating is comfortable, weather isn't an issue, and the feed often does a good job of providing close-ups, replays, and different angles you can't always get in stadium.

As for the announcers, I typically just tune them out. They're rarely useful but occasionally can provide helpful updates on injury situations and what not.

If you take that approach then you will not have a competitive team. You need to be playing by the same rules as the teams you are competing against and unless everyone takes that approach you will not be able to recruit the Addy / Audi / Emily type player and become irrelevant.

The truth is with modern TV's you can see more watching it at home than you can in person. You do miss the atmosphere of the crowd, outside of that, being at home is a much better viewing environment. How many times have you gone to a game and then gone home to watch the replace to see critical plays over again? You cannot beat being at the game, but most of the time, you cannot see crap of what is happening during the game.
