If they're alternating home and away or scheduling MO because of being a more natural rival, then they're doing something different than ever, because, here are our opponents so far:

2016: A&M on the road
2017: Vandy on the road
2018: Tenn at home
2019: Ole Miss on the road
2020: Auburn on the road
2021: Miss State on the road
2022: MO at home

So, definitely no consideration for whether you played at home or road the season before and no care for rivalries.

I don't know how much effort is put into the matchups, rotations, games sites ... but at least as far as home/away aspect, having 3 straight road games (and 5 in 6 seasons) is BS, and tells me their isn't much attention paid to the specifics for that ... ISU did get back-to-back home games to start the series, but since then it has been imbalanced.

I haven't gone through full schedules to see if any other team has that big of imbalance, but I'm guessing there aren't many, if any.

Two thoughts

1) ESPN thinks we suck and is matching us with another low tier SEC program
2) We don't generate enough TV interest to put us up against a bigger name
Yeah I really don't think it's #2. Freaking Kansas State drew Florida, who while down last year, is historically one of the better basketball schools in that conference.

Bring on Mizzou, maybe if we just make it an annual rivalry game, ESPN will stop giving them to us in this challenge.

We need to end our partnership with the SEC. It's time for the Big 12/Big 10 challenge, and the SEC/ACC challenge. And both challenges need to be in December, not late January.

Was our home Arkansas game not in this tournament?

Minnesota is a great road trip for ISU fans. Had some games up there back in the Orr years I believe. The ball hitting the scoreboard game was the one I was at.
Have the chamber of commerce sponsor a game at the Target Center weekend prior to Christmas. Get 15,000 state fans flooding the Mega mall. Seems like a brainer.

I think that might depend on if ESPN is still a media or partner again or not.

I'd be OK with B12/SEC going away especially with the recent defections. I'm not against it continuing. B12/BiG I'm not sure it'd happen, but it'd be good. If B12/Pac-12 could be renewed but in the one-day (or one-weekend) format of B12-SEC, I'd be interested. The previous 12/Pac extended spanned, like, 45 days and was a disaster.

We really need to keep Creighton on the upcoming schedules. It just makes too much sense.
(They are my darkhorse Final Four team this year)

We should never be partnering with a conference that keeps poaching our teams, and that is trying to kill our conference.
I don’t disagree, but it seems like there is some type of back room deal as their clear tampering was never mentioned again after this first time Bowlsby said it.

I wouldn’t complain if we end up with

CBS
ESPN
Paramount or Amazon

If that makes us the most money. Or is ESPN is left out that obviously works for me too.

I just put the games I remembered. Those games were pre-conference, if I remember. Still, the point that they haven’t ever cared about rivalry or alternating home/away before, which makes us playing at MO this season a change of direction.

The 1st time we had this game I was excited now it's fine, there really was no buzz in Hilton that night. Missouri has been gone long enough that the rivalry seems dead. It was really just another team coming to Hilton IMO.
