I'll back this opinion as well, though I'd argue Sports Page is the worst of the three. Admittedly, my arguments on the topic are a bit out of date as I live outside the area now and only make it back to see my folks.

The one in Ames has menu items from their other restaurants (Mineral City and Old Boston's) as well.

Give it some time to get the wait staff figured out. The Sports Page in Fort Dodge has great food.

I will agree that the decor inside seems bland and done on a budget.

I agree, give them a couple months to get things going and give it another chance. I have been to Ft Dodge location and mineral city a few times and both were solid.

Wife and I went on Saturday. Not impressed by the décor or the service. Agree with the comments that it's too sterile. Hope they get it worked out. We need more restaurants on the west side.

When we lived in Humboldt, the Sports Page in Fort Dodge was our Friday night go-to place. Over time it changed some, and then we moved to Ames. We're looking forward to trying out this new one, but know it won't be at all the same.

A few years ago we went to FD on a Sunday morning to take my dad out to lunch. On the trip we decided to try Mineral City until we drove by the smoldering ruins.

We ate there tonight. Great service. Food was good. Free beer samples we did not request. I would go back.

Always meant to go try it but never heard the best from others so we never got out there.

I really tried to like this place. The food was so generic and nothing special. Too big of a menu to do anything well.
It's a nice building and prime location. Hopefully someone makes a go of it with something else that sticks. Where is Seneca's wing place supposed to be?

Too bad. I think the owners were trying to do a good thing. Not sure what happened.

Ames is oversaturated with restaurants. Once the OP went, you knew the Sports Page didn't stand a chance.

bought a lot of stuff there growing up, as well as a couple recent Xmas gifts. it's a little sad to see it go...

This is the west Ames restaurant. The sporting goods place of same name at the mall has been gone for a couple of years.
