The job is bad right now, but there are plenty of coaches that would jump at the chance and the pay raise that comes with it. The key for EIU is finding the right guy. I would give a hard look to the guy at Drake, won a lot at NW Missouri and is from Iowa, which their fan base really likes. Still young enough to be there a long time if he wants to.
There fan base is made up of a lot of fair weather fans, if the new guy starts winning they will support him, hell, it can't be any worse than what they now have under Fran.
Shhhhhhhh . . . . don't say this too loud. It all makes sense. We don't want the Iowa AD to start getting ideas.

If he has skill to be ranked that high I’m not worried about a guys weight. If he was coming to Iowa state I don’t care what he weighs

I mean it's pretty low on the list of concerns, sure, but I can't imagine a guy weighing 165 (at 6'6!) being able to withstand the physicality of the Big 12.

Can we loan them a couple transfers to help out? I think we’ve got guys that aren’t getting minutes here that would battle for starting spots in IC. Or would we be worried that Fran would be able to ruin them forever in a two month span?
New transfer portal TV show you've been banished to Fran Island

And then come back in the fall for a Hard Knocks - Iowa City show. You’d have to put some sort of warning on it about the show causing depression and if you need help call the hotline.

We need them to finish 17-14 (8-12), crappy enough to not be a threat to anyone, but good enough to stay another year. So that would be 5-7 to finish regular season. They need 2 of Penn St, Washington, Wiscy at home plus 3 of at Rutgers, Maryland, Northwestern, Nebby.
Firmly on the NIT bubble....

Northern Iowa alum. So probably a fan of Iowa growing up but, like most Iowa fans, never attended.
I've seen this take hundreds of times, and it's stupid every time. I've been a Cyclone fan since 1980, but didn't attend ISU. Have I been a fake fan for 45 *ucking years?

My generation of Iowans migrated towards Iowa because they became successful while ISU was a dumpster fire. The butthurtedness is getting really old.

Demarion wasn’t too far off from that in HS and now he’s built like a rock. Our S&C is light years ahead of Iowa but still.

He turned down a lot of opportunities before he took the Drake job. All evidence points to him being too smart to step into the Iowa quagmire.

Where did he say fake fan in that post? Simply stated the majority of their fans never went to school there, which is 100% fact..

when iowa state was such a terrible program many people just decided to cheer for iowa because of hayden fry and what he had going.

that is very true. many colleges have fans that never attended that university.. lol

Yeah, I think that people here underestimate B10 money. We were able to buy out Prohm and TJ's contract at UNLV during Covid. And people think that iowa can't afford to buy out Fran and DeVries? With the new TV deal and getting a bigger share for the CFP, the iowa AD is probably getting $40M more than ISU each year. And they can't afford a buyout in their second biggest sport (revenue wise)? I feel like at this point, they can't afford not to. Fran looks like he wants out, I'm sure he will negotiate a reduced buyout...something like 75%. DeVries is an iowa fan. He'll jump at that job. How he does at iowa is another issue. He has a built in recruiting base of legacies and brainwashed locals, but does that really fit what he wants to do? I feel like a bunch of white kids that can shoot but not defend is not really what he's looking for.
