At this point with TJ I’m not scared of anyone in the country much less DeVries who is a good coach no doubt. But TJ has shown he is one of the top coaches in the country as far as roster development.
I don't think anyone. Within the fanbase is scared of any current or future coach at iowa, but it is better for isu to be as good as possible and iowa to be as bad as possible for as long as possible. If iowa ever has/regains any real momentum, isu will actually have to compete with iowa for recruits regionally. Currently most recruits will be a hard lean to isu if the two schools are both in contention because iowa can't even sell hope at this point.

Id rather keep things this way, and have fran stay forever, and devries stay as far away as possible.

Not exactly sure.
The 50M to the University probably can be negotiated and paid at very appealing terms. The 8M to Fran and his assistants is very doable for their donors.

But I just cannot see DeVries leaving to take the Iowa job.

I would guess that Beth at the end of this season will give Fran some kind of performance schedule he has to fulfill to keep his job. Ultimately it will be Fran deciding if he want to continue to coach next season...not Beth or the boosters.
The 50MM has terms set and the interest rate is set to readjust in a year. It will be flying up a bit.

I honestly don't know why any decent coach would want the Iowa job when they finally move on from Fran. Travis was lobbying hard this morning for DeVries on the Morning Rush today but is Iowa really a desirable job right now over what he has at WVU? They pack the place there and spend NIL money and I don't care that he is is from Iowa, even if they offered more money why would you take on that mess over what you already have going at WVU? Iowa will either have to throw an insane amount of money at a big name coach or hope they find a diamond in the rough mid major coach with their next hire because the apathy has set in so bad in Iowa City that it's not an easy job to sell right now.

Agreed, the only way EIU thinks about canning him would be if they go winless the rest of the season. They have too much offense for that to happen, they will win 3-5 games from this point out, and that will be enough, along with the cost of the buyout to give him at least one more season.
We need them to finish 17-14 (8-12), crappy enough to not be a threat to anyone, but good enough to stay another year. So that would be 5-7 to finish regular season. They need 2 of Penn St, Washington, Wiscy at home plus 3 of at Rutgers, Maryland, Northwestern, Nebby.

Can we loan them a couple transfers to help out? I think we’ve got guys that aren’t getting minutes here that would battle for starting spots in IC. Or would we be worried that Fran would be able to ruin them forever in a two month span?

The job is bad right now, but there are plenty of coaches that would jump at the chance and the pay raise that comes with it. The key for EIU is finding the right guy. I would give a hard look to the guy at Drake, won a lot at NW Missouri and is from Iowa, which their fan base really likes. Still young enough to be there a long time if he wants to.
There fan base is made up of a lot of fair weather fans, if the new guy starts winning they will support him, hell, it can't be any worse than what they now have under Fran.
