I've been there a couple of times. Cool tour. This is a sad day.
Same - the wife and I used to visit a few wineries over in the Chippewa Falls/Eau Claire area each year and would go and out at the factory and the Lodge there. This sucks.

I served with Jake Leinenkugel in the Marines. Did not know then that he was the scion of a brewing family. How often do you see that now (wealthy kid joining the military)? I guess it was a tradition in his family.
There was a CBS Sunday segment recently on the "newest" Smucker in charge of Smuckers. He seemed very down to earth and seems like someone who it wasn't just handed to.

We used to stop at the Wollersheim Winery 20 years ago in Prairie du Sac when we were passing through. That Winery was started by the guy that founded/established Napa Valley when he left WI. Brought vines over from Europe. I could be off on the details a bit, but I believe it to be close. BTW, they actually do have some pretty nice wines.

Leinenkugel beer is average at best. The brewery/factory in Chippewa Falls however is an awesome vist/tour. This stinks!
Maybe how I felt about Schells.
I know I enjoy their beers and Grainbelt more than Leines.

Corporate retaliation. Molson Coors offered a new contract last year with a raise that was less than inflation, so the union went on strike. Now 50+ people will lose their jobs so the corporation can send a message while profiting off a name from the city they gutted.

Make the deal with the devil and this is what you get
Indeed. I thought he crafted his comments well to honor the company that still makes his product, but to defend the heritage associated with Chippewa Falls.
