Historically, the Lakers do not give coaches huge contracts. He makes $5.35M from UConn. Will he get more than that? Probably. But he won't get the $13-17M some NBA coaches are getting.

I would guess this is a leverage move to get a raise from and stay at UConn.

I've seen reports Lakers are offering 8 years 100 million.

Bronny is 100% getting drafted. Might be late first or second but he is 100% getting drafted. This is also one of the historically worst drafts of all time. He’s in easily
Agreed. His name and marketing are worth as much or more than his skill, especially if it brings his dad as a package deal.

I think Hurley is going to end up with the Lakers. They’ll give him a big long guaranteed contract to entice him. The Buss offspring may finally have figured it out.
The JJ Redick thing never made any sense. That would have been the dumbest move ever.

Unless you have to figure out how to hide bronny on the roster somehow.
Tell bronny to only practice corner 3’s. Then in the game he just sits in the corner. I think many people can make a good percentage of the shots from the same place on the floor if that’s the only thing they do.

I’ll take the $100 million contract now. :p

Probably smart move long term. If you’ve got it good in college and like where you’re at why move up and risk getting canned in two years? His job security at UCONN is incredible. Probably could stay there till he retires.

Good choice.
Nets, Knicks, Sixers, Wiz all close to where family lives. Boston probably locked down with their staff for a while.

I thought the deal was 7 years for $100M. I think he'll eventually go to the NBA once a job in the New England area opens up (Knicks)
Yeah 6 for $70M wasn’t going to cut it. They needed to go more towards the 7 for 100 or more, but NBA owners think stars win championships, and they can plug in coaches. Every team has stars.

Maybe the guy is just happy coaching at UCONN and doesn't feel the need to have NBA Head Coach on his resume. He is at a salary bracket that a few more million a year is not going to change his lifestyle much at all. I mean does a person making 12 million a year really have that much better of life than the guy making 9 million a year?
