I didn't see this posted, but Kayden Fish finished his senior season at Staley with a 6A state championship. He ended up with 11pts and 6 rebounds. I haven't seen him play in person, but a friend of mine has a daughter that goes to Staley and has seen him play. He said that Staley had better talent than a lot of teams they played and that Fish was deceptively quick for his size with a good motor.

Write-up about the state championship:

This quote from the Staley coach sounds familiar to someone we know:
"We played really, really good defense," Neff said. "And that's where we hung our hat, whether it be conversations in time outs or in the locker room at halftime, and obviously every day prior to this day and all the kids we've ever coached ... if you defend, you've always got a chance. And we gave ourselves a chance through some of the lulls and lack of scoring we were going through."

I found another quote about Fish from an article earlier this year:
Kayden Fish’s feel is interesting. He has great hands on a strong frame with an understanding of how to find space. The 6-foot-6 power forward scored here at each level, knocking down a spot three to start things off and following it up with a drop-step two-handed dunk in traffic and an array of put backs and lay ups at the rim. Fish is a good area rebounder and he is a vocal defender. There was a lot of production to like with his game.
I watched a replay of the game and he looks like a man playing amongst boys out there. I think he’ll be like a Santos-Silva from Tech but could project to be a better shooter.

Agree that Wilson was a STUD! It would take a committee to replace his production. KJ Adams was great for 2/3 to 3/4 of the season. By the end of Big 12 play, he did was far less affective in the PnR as teams figured out how KU wanted to feed him lobs and quick rolls to the rim.

Missing their HOF coach is the reason they lost.. Although UCONN looked like a national champ last night, so not sure they could have won, even with it likely being a home game in KC
I'm assuming Wilson is going into the draft? If so, I really don't see that typical KU star waiting in the wings to replace him. I'm sure they'll be fine between their usual recruiting and transfers, but that might make them take a slight step back next year.

They're primed to take their pick of transfer scorers.

Oh, I agree, but they don't have that returning guy who knows the system and is ready to emerge as the next star. I think that's important. Not saying they won't compete for the top of the league, but I don't think they'll be as strong as the last two years.

I would hope we would be attractive to guys like Mast from Bradley and Rhode from St. Thomas. They are both in top 15.

In going though Big12 transfers I noticed Cam Martin is leaving KU. He would be an intriguing option in the post. He is 6'9" & 240lbs. and was a D2 transfer who spent 2 years at KU. He redshirted year 1 at KU and then took a medical redshirt year 2. He had a shoulder injury.

He was a D2 all-american and is not a low post center on offense- over 3 years took nearly 300 3 point shots and made 39%. He shot close to 80% from the free throw line and average over 9rpg.

If Ward is coming back, Martin might be an interesting piece to a 3 headed monster in the post. Each with a different skill-set.

Cam Martin at Missouri Southern
Season stats are at bottom of page
He isn’t good defensively but can shoot the heck out of the ball

They were able to pry McCullar from Tech. No player is off limits for their portal asperations.. I do see Harris and KJ Adams taking LARGE steps forward this off season. Self has a great track record with bigs, so I expect Udeh to take a big step as well. They need 3 starters though, so we can hope for a slight step down from them

I imagine they're going to bring in 3-4 very solid transfers and pair that with a top 10 recruiting class. They may not be great to start the year but by February I bet they're yet again a top 10 team and probably win the conference. Wash rinse repeat lol

KU fan I sat next to during Big 12 semis game didn't seem to be worried about losing Wilson. I said something about Wilson going pro as he was lighting ISU up in the 1st half and the guy said, "it's OK if he does because we'll just reload". Don't know if he knew something or it was just the normal KU fan arrogance.

That is the universal KU arrogance. They deserve to win the conference every year.

That, my friend, would be the Texas fan who also roots for Duke.
Not on topic at all, but I always get a good laugh when watching the replays of the Big 12 Tournament where we beat them on Monte's buzzer beater. 2015 I think?

There's a row of Texas fans sitting way up behind the left basket the entire time after that looking pissed off and grumpy as hell, never reacting to anything or even moving around on camera. They're at every single game of the tournament and never change form. It's pretty wonderful.

I've been going to the Big 12 Tournament since I was 8-9 years old and I remember my mom pointing those gentleman out to me and telling me they've been coming together for years. They look like some mean old bastards but I guess they love them some basketball

I actually don't remember the last time I saw them but I remember exactly who you are talking about and know they were regulars at one point. I did not remember seeing them in the arena this year though.
