It's a game thread. I'm astounded at how frequently people complain at the slightest hint of something negative or not "positive". It's even better when they ***** and don't actually take issue with the content.

It was a great win in the sense we 'needed' it. Kunc was outstanding, as was the front court in general, but the guards struggled. If one was objective and honest it was a mixed bag, a far cry from the team game against KU or some others earlier in the season.

Hopefully our guards, at least one of them anyway, can get things figured out. We also need guys to figure out how to avoid senseless fouls. It will be VERY hard for us to win in the postseason if we have guys putting themselves on the bench because they are fouling guys on wide open dunks.

KSU is struggling. If we are getting a road win in the last 3, Saturday is easily our best opportunity.
You're amazed at how many people? Maybe that should tell you something about your posting habits.

We committed 16 TOs, got a career game from a guy on his 3rd game back, and benefitted from the flukiesf and most lopsided (in our favor) FT disparity of the season. Good enough to beat the bottom 300 teams in the NCAA? Probably. Good enough to beat a top 30 team that doesn't shoot 33 percent from the line? Now that is questionable and it certainly makes the 99% indicator look extremely unrealistic.
I mean, that's fair.

The biggest thing for me is it looked like we had our legs back and the body language was so much better, which allows us to play our game. It gives us more room for error on the offensive end than 300+ teams and gives us a puncher's chance against anyone.

We've seen that we can win a lot of games, big games with the peak Kyle Green/TJ ball formula and one guy getting hot. Even if we don't score well, it's gotta be no fun at all to play us when we defend to our capability.

Anyone who has played basketball at any level past rec league can appreciate that nobody gets into basketball to pass out of traps/doubles or drive into a host of guys that are eager to wall up for charges every time you put the ball on the floor. This team can do that better than anyone.

Every win must be kept in "context".
Every loss is a concerning trend.
And every compliment needs a "but".

Gabe did a great job shutting down Baugh who is TCU's best player on the court. 2-7 shooting, 6 turnovers.

He more than offset any negatives he had tonight

It's incredible how some CFers still don't seem to grasp what value or impact a player can have if they aren't stuffing the stat sheet, especially on a team that has to lean heavily on defense to have a chance.

It's like how making the NCAA tourney isn't good enough for many; I don't think ISU has had more than a handful of teams earn a 5 seed (my count is 6 teams I think?) or better in the NCAAs so the meltdown if they get like a 6 will be entertaining to watch.

Great move getting Jaz into the starting lineup and reducing Grills minutes, he is forcing things of late to the point he's really been a negative the past couple of weeks, teams know he can't drive.

I agree I just think 9-9 removes all doubt. I know our resume has a ton of top wins just the cyclone fan in me worries about only having 17 wins. Last year we had the added benefit of an undefeated noncon.

Remember when they went 7-11 last year and got into the tournament? Johnny's teams?

Getting this win last night gives new house money to ISU so hopefully they can tack on a couple more wins but the tourney should be a shoe in right now which, despite many CFers' troubles with success, is REALLY good.

I was sick yesterday and wasn't going to be able to stay up for the whole game, so I just went radio silent before I went to bed. Woke up about 5 times wanting to check the score, but knew that either way, finding out would wake me up too much. Very happy to see them pull this one out, and can't wait to watch the replay today!

I think we're in already regardless, but it would be nice to come into the postseason on a roll. Need to get the two home games for seeding purposes, and any win in the 3 road games would be a huge boost.

Yeah getting a conference winning record would be pretty outstanding for this group so it really all is icing from here on out.

I'm not too concerned with how ISU is playing entering the tourney. We've seen several examples of how it doesn't seem to matter how a team is playing 4 days prior to the first round.

Good to see Kunc back in rhythm. Last night made u wonder where we'd be sitting if he hadn't got injured. I don't think Oky st or Tech on the road happen with him in the lineup. Now get Grill healthy for the tournament. Team should have a hair cutting ceremony to get him out of his funk.

Kunc can also handle the ball well for a four. We were missing some of that as well to get us through full court pressure.

This team is far from perfect. You pointing out their flaws over and over again that are quite obvious to even the most casual fan isn’t enlightening in the slightest. Maybe you’re misinterpreting the push back you’re getting? A majority of us don’t live in the land of rainbows and unicorns.

You’re right that some people on here do get too wound up if someone dares to be negative. There’s also a few on here that are too invested in pointing out the negative. Find a balance between those two extremes and you’ll get better interactions on here. Or don’t. As you said, it’s a message board.

He moves really well for a guy his size. Gets to his spots early which makes him a great screener. I think this is the most underrated part in his game. He really disrupts the other teams flow.

Fair point. I look at it like CG is getting healthy for March. Having Jaz back is super helpful.
