I have video of Bill Walton at half clapping for a gymnast guy balancing a little dog while in a handstand. No lie.

Not sure why UConn is not playing that 7'-2" guy more. He is killing us. They would likely be up 20 pts if he had more minutes.
May not be able to keep up the pace they like? They seem to thrive off of totally broken plays with barely scraping the pass out of their asses and then hitting one good pass for a score. Maybe he isn't as good at that offense as others?

Positives:
Lipsey
That's I think the best we've taken care of the ball in a half this season with only 5 TOs

Negatives:
19 missed shots by UConn, 13 offensive boards.
2 of those O boards are team from missed FTs but still 11 on missed FGs

I honestly think we executed a lot of our gameplan, especially on defense, but our rebounding is atrocious and is the difference in the game. I didn't expect us to have more than 30 at half against this length and athleticism, and they'd have 30-32 if we could close out on the defensive boards. A lot of our fouls came on 2nd chance possessions.

Clean up on the glass and do our part to stop sending them to the line and we'll have a shot. UNC was a good collection of talent but UConn is a really good team. And Hurley is a prick.

Most of the TOs were in the first part of the half as well.

Lipsey and Osun were the clear positives and it's miraculous Osun has ZERO fouls when it feels like most of our guys have at least two.

The negatives are the offensive glass, fouls, and missed layups. We had about 5 blown lay-ins, with Gabe having 2-3 of those. Have to make the easy shots.

A half-time NBA break to try to forget about our offensive struggles for a few minutes:

Tonight Niang, Monte and Tyrese combined for 24 assists and ZERO turnovers. That's pretty friggin impressive.

And now, back to UConn imposing its will on our offense ...

Obviously. If they can't beat a top 20 team as well as inconsistent reffing. TJ needs them to tell them to walk to Ames if they can't win by 20 tonight.

Fred and Tim and Larry and Johnny and Wayne never lost non-conference games. Program's sputtering.

/s but seriously there will be a post like that at some point tonight, like 'I miss when ISU used to actually WIN holiday tournaments'.

OK they haven't fouled AS MUCH as us, but they have fouled MORE THAN they have been called for. How about that?
Sure I guess. UConn is relentless and insanely athletic. They are just better. Let’s see if it keeps up, but if you watch their defense for the most part that’s exactly how you want to play tough, in your face defense.
