I also remember hearing someone talk about how it should be a blind call. The replay official is in a room somewhere, not allowed to watch the game. They don’t know the call, their only job is to say what they see, once they are showed the replay.

Plays still have to get to review somehow. The first targeting wasn’t called on the field.

Trying to take my cyclone hat off here. Were the refs the reason we lost?

I think no as BU dominated the third quarter. But we started really well and had multiple drives by Baylor in the first quarter extended by fuc*ed up ref calls

I think you have to say Baylor's dominant 3rd quarter probably should've tied the game or given them a fg lead. Who knows how ISU bounces back from that if it's a close game instead of a 3 score game.

Their offense in no way earned 17 points in first half. Almost any team is going to score 17 or more in a half if you turn some of their failures on 3rd down into 15 yard penalties/ejections for no reason at all. Those are massive swings where the ISU defense earned the right to get off the field and committed no penalties.

This loss stings…but it’s not the end of the universe here. I had this team at 7-5 this season and this hasn’t changed for me. Get a win against KU next week and get right - remember we usually start 2-2 under Campbell we are still ahead of schedule. Oh and Fok the refs for that ejection and targeting call.

Can’t ever turn the ball over 2 times and expect to win. You need to be better, young man, Dekkers.
The picks almost didn’t bother me. One was a fluke and one was just a 4th down play when he’s trying to make a play. There were several other throws he didn’t make good throws or just plain misfired. That kinda stuff has to be corrected.

People like to talk about NIL and resources and an admin that will look the other way for sports at Nebby. Baylor is on the same level and they are private so they really have no rules. Aranda won’t be there forever, but he’s not going to Nebraska.

Well the reports are coming from the Baylor people. Every other reports come from Nebraska idiots

Interesting. I’ll watch in replay. Either way I don’t think that play should be a referendum on Dekkers running ability.

I don't like the play call in a way it draws out the clock in addition to ISU taking 6 years to get ready for the next play.

No more designed runs for Dekkers please. He's not quick enough.

I can't believe apparently we are the only two who see how slow he is game speed.

Love the arm, love the upside. He just does not have the same running plays capability of every QB we've had since Seneca took over for Sage. I mean we've had 20 years now where our QBs were usually at least average runners with a few exceptional runners (Seneca/Lanning).

We have a non running QB now and need to stop waisting plays pretending he isn't.

Lots of teams win without designed runs for their QBs. NFL teams that have fast QBs don't even always call running plays for them.

I won't say that the refs handed Baylor the game because they were flat out beating us most of the second half, but it sucks that the refs denied us the chance to see a great game that we could have had if not for their garbage in the first half

I will be stunned if Aranda left for Nebraska - why would he? We ask that question for ourselves with Campbell - he's got just as good if not better set up there.

Recruiting is easier, facilities are in the works, etc.
And if he wanted Bush or Mickey on his staff he would have brought them to Baylor.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

the refs suck but here are two other areas that easily cost us the game as well.

When you lose the sack game - what, 4 to 0? 5 to 0? Granted one was completely on Dekkers because he side shuffled to the sideline till he almost decided to run but it was too late.

And when you lose the turnover battle 2-0.... those drives end in points we maybe win.

The refs did us no favors -some of the worst I have ever seen in my life.

But its also hard to say that they are the only reason we lost. We made enough mistakes in the margins as Coach likes to say that we couldn't over come. And we also for all the talk of depth, played a much shorter bench or had contributions from a much smaller number of players.

So I think its more complex than blaming the refs because we didn't help ourselves either.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On the bright side, we saw the fight that is going to help this team moving forward. We saw them compete. And our special teams actually had a pretty good game. But clearly we are not a finished product yet, and we are not quite ready to take the next step . Hopefully we can take the next step next week against a good and explosive Kansas team.

Also it really does seem that contrary to how it generally works, Dekkers really does seem to be running slower at a toned down weight than he did last year. It almost makes me wonder if he isn't dealing with some kind of leg injury

Before the season I thought ISU would record 6 and possibly 7 wins this year as they lost a lot of key starters from last year. I got my hopes up after the 3-0 start. Now, I am questioning my original prediction. There are many things to clean up to achieve a net winning record this year.
