I am sorry to break it to people, but we’re going to be in for a rough ride next few years if TJ doesn’t kill it in the portal and land a big time class for 2023. I am hoping a few guys take their COVID year.
Sheesh. I bet this guy kills at parties. What were your expectations for this year? It won’t be easy and we very well could step back from an amazing/improbable year but TJ has shown he can get it done.

I had very low expectations like everyone else. But I’m also objectively looking at what we’re likely to lose next year and have really low expectations again. A lot hinges on who stays snd who goes.

I credit TJ for landing the transfers he did, but IB is a one in a hundred kind of transfer for us.

Brockington was a very good player, but honestly ISU's system of defense had a greater impact than any individual transfer. It wore teams down many nights, or at minimum frustrate the hell out of them.

If they maintain the rock fight approach they will be fine. Hunter was one of the best on the ball defenders in the Big 12.

Texas Tech was all transfers, they were good because they play in your face defense. And most of those guys were from smaller conference schools, Don't think they had any major conference transfers. No highly coveted guys.

It is cliche but defense travels. You get 5 guys connected defensively on the court, and you can score 50 points and win a chunk of games.

Let’s face it, our O wasn’t exactly setting the world on fire… especially lately. Sooner or later a team was going to connect on a bunch of threes and end our run. This team was special because of their heart and teamwork. I’m not sure who is returning but one or two offensive pieces that buy in could bring this team to new heights…

You have to consider the new landscape of the portal. We aren’t going to know next years roster until this summer . It’s going to be tough to get another IB production wise but it’s no longer 1 in a 100, it’s happens a lot more often these days. As I have mentioned before to this point zero reason to not give TJ the benefit of the doubt.

Is King a 5? I've thought of him more in the Kunc/Enaruna mold. If he can play the 5 consistently I'll be less concerned, but I also agree with @twincyties that there has to be at least one guy brought in to play the 5. I appreciate Jones and think he's absolutely improved as of late, but also don't think people realize how... mostly unbelievably bad his offensive numbers were most of the season.
Tre King is a poor man’s Melvin Eijm is what I’ve heard.

Felt like he’s struggled with the mid range and handles in the lane for several games to me.
yes! it's weird. Earlier in the year he seemed so competent in those areas and lately he hasn't really been able to attack the hoop and look good doing it. If he does it's a little awkward, relatively speaking. His drives either get blocked or he just misses.

Agree. Jaz made a huge difference this year. Anyone who thinks otherwise does not understand college basketball.

If TJ goes out and recruits over him I’ll br the first one to applaud him. I just don’t see that kind of Calvary coming.

My guess is that IB, Conditt, Enaruna, and Gabe all leave. We are seriously thin next year if that happens.

It'll depend on the portal. But we have guys coming in already. Give Hunter an off-season to work on his strength to finish at the basket and he could completely change the offense. He's shown that he can drive. So if he can finish consistently, then he could be our leading scorer. But even just that threat frees up shooters and open shots inside.

To me, the guards look fine with what we have already committed. Bring in 1 or 2 more bigs and we're sitting good.

I think he was running out of gas the last couple of games. Dude played a ton of minutes this year and carried a pretty heavy load. Sometimes it just happens.

I hate to break it to you, but we don't need you to take a covid year. Ever consider entering the transfer portal?

It was a real struggle this year for some fans to grasp that ISU was successful and that college basketball is a free agency.

There will be down years but it's like TJ doesn't know recruiting is a constant thing.

Will be interesting to be sure. If anything we know TJ can get a pretty marginal group to play good enough D to compete. That being said, we're likely to lose a lot but Miami showed us there is a lot we need so hopefully we find it. Any shooting at all would be improvement, and truly strong ball handling would be nice too. I've seen more blocked shots and airballs than I thought a s16 team could commit. This is where TJ and staff go prove it!

Not exactly sure.

Not to mention that teams were loading the left side on defense. You notice in the game that most drives came from the right side and our “shooters” were more open on the right? They were taking away IBs left side and making us either beat them with someone else or Brock going right.

I stay away from the game threads, so I'm sure this has been discussed. George played 17 minutes. Love RJ's contributions, but GC played as well as he ever has. Only coaching decision I wondered about.

Nitpicking. Miami was better last night and deserved to win.
Not nit picking at all. George deserved more than 17 minutes last night.
