We couldn't pull in a coach like that when we had one of the best returning rosters in the country and we are In a worse position now because it's a full blown rebuild. People need to be a little more realistic about just how attractive this job is.

We could have. We went cheap instead.

Dennis Gates is only 30-28 the past two years. People need to look past just their record this year or 2 years. He shouldn’t be written off just because he is .500 the last two years.
I read on here that ADs don't look beyond what has happened this year.:p

I consider TJ to be one of many qualified candidates. I will support any of the Coaches that JP chooses. I just think that you can’t just totally disregard TJ as a viable replacement. TJ is one of many.
Can you admit that you are biased AGAINST TJ?

First...............I CAN disregard TJ as a viable replacement if I wish.....people disregard names I throw up all the time.
And second........I CAN admit I want TJ no where near the head coaching seat at ISU

This isn't personal........and this isn't a TJ vs Prohm thing unless you have inside knowledge that Steve is re-applying for the job. This is looking at his resume and seeing what he has done......and knowing if he didn't have it close with the AD and some large donors and to a much lesser extent his posse on this site, he wouldn't be an afterthought to a wet fart here at ISU.

LOL. Only JP’s Opinion counts.

Tough for some to admit that maybe we should have taken TJ instead of Prohm the first time. Where the Program is today proves that Prohm was a terrible choice. We are below the Cellar. Record Setting Failure.
Do you guys actually not understand that maybe both would have been the wrong choice? Just because Prohm sucks doesn’t automatically mean TJ would have been great

I think anyone having to follow Fred (Ames and ISU’s golden boy) was set up for a much harder gig than a normal coaching change.

Agreed with both of these. Also, even if he was the right choice 6 years ago doesnt mean he's the right hire now. The best argument for him back then was program continuity. That's not a selling point now.

I think expectations were too high, yeah. But whoever walked in then had a heck of a lot easier gig than where we’re at now. I’m not saying TJ would be an awful choice, and he may turn around UNLV given more time. But right now with his resume, it would be a joke to suggest him for this job if he didn’t have a connection here.

Disagree.

Winning solves everything, and this was probably one of the best opportunities a coach could dream of being handed.

Prohm faced issues from the start because he was an inferior coach. Those issues were there even while we were winning but people overlooked them because we were winning (proof that a better coach would have it even easier)
