Guys, there are more than Mountain West coaches to look at.

Thank you... While I agree that Gates and TJ are logical canidates we have no idea who the options really are. Not to mention Prohm is still the coach today even if we assume a move will be made.
I'd be surprised if JP doesn't hire a coach firm to get 5-6 canidates and then interview. It would help eliminate the thought of bias and was requested by the president during the Prohm hire. (even if that didn't work out well in the end).

Does it seem like the white knights who were always coming to the defense of Steve, calling us terrible fans for pointing out he was a bad coach, saying we never gave him a chance, are the ones who are already not giving TJ a chance? Crazy how deep they are dug in for the worst coach we've ever had.

I have yet to see anyone in this thread defend Prohm and the job he's done at ISU, or suggest he should be retained. I have yet to see anyone suggest they would rather retain Prohm than hire TJ.

The only comparison between the two was to compare Prohm's resume when he was hired and TJ's now. But there is literally no one on here saying Prohm should be retained. Literally no one. There are people saying JP might retain him, but I haven't seen a single person say that it's the right move.

There are people that are excited for the prospects of TJ being the head coach. That's totally fine. Most on here seem to be in the camp I'm in. I'd be fine with TJ, but I think ISU can get a better guy. I think the likes of Medved, Smith or Gates are better candidates. It might look like people are trashing TJ, but most of it's just straight comparisons of candidates. You posted earlier that he walked into a **** show at UNLV, which was absolutely not true. That's all.

I would rather retain Prohm for another year than hire TJ.

Why would someone who is not the coach at iowa state need to be given a chance?

I know they don’t send in their resumes lol. I was being flippant. But seriously wouldn’t you get more interest when the position is officially open? That’s how we got Orr, if you don’t know learn your history
Think we got Johnny because Max Urich and Dave Cox asked him to help find ISU a coach (Max had Big10 roots). Johnny asked "What you Payin" and the rest is history (Although Michigan tried to keep him with a last ditch effort)

Uh no, the Prohmans have to bash TJ because if he’s hired and succeeds then they will have been proven wrong. Spectacularly so.

Tough for some to admit that maybe we should have taken TJ instead of Prohm the first time. Where the Program is today proves that Prohm was a terrible choice. We are below the Cellar. Record Setting Failure.

I'll be surprised if JP hires a search firm.

Iowa State uses Parker Search primarily for the logistics behind hiring the candidate, not necessarily for looking for the new coach. However, it would be my guess that if we didn't utilize their services, it's because we're going with someone who has been in the HR books in the past (Fred or TJ).

I don't know about JP. But on the University side, they LOVE to spend to spend $100's of thousands on inside poker "consulting firms" and search committees. Jische and Leath especially. I don't know about Wendy.

What do you mean by logistics?

Sadly I think you are right that some have a strange sense of joy in the disaster that is ISU basketball just to be right. But I think that is a very tiny group of outliers.

With the gift of hindsight NOBODY would go back and choose Prohm over TJ. The great thing, 99.9% of people on here want Prohm gone, so now the debate is whether ISU should go after TJ, or some of the other candidates. So the debate is now who should replace Prohm, barring some irrationality by Pollard.
