With as good of a recruiter he is, I'm confident he will be able to win the team over.

The main one he needs to win over is Mike Daum, 6'9" freshman who averaged 15 and 6. Daum would be a highly-sought after high major transfer if he was to leave.

Is this where we say that he never really wanted to be at ISU and never loved us and all that?

TJ's known he was going to SDSU for years. He said on a couple occasions he doesn't enjoy the recruiting aspect of CBB and his dream lies in the Summit League.

Not exactly sure.
So last year we had players mad Prohm wasn't Hoiberg and Bulls had players mad Hoiberg wasn't Thibs. Next year mad Jackrabbits that Otz isn't Nagy or Miller.

They will get over it. I got over not being able to marry Heather Locklear and sometimes you get lucky that you didn't get what you wanted. Like Pamela Anderson being my second choice. Not a fan of hepatitis

If TJ leaves I would be happy for him. I trust Prohm to bring in another recruiter.

I don't think Steve will get burnt out on Recruiting like Fred did.

If all else fails just pay Golesh to recruit from both FB and BB.

A win/win all around!

He only applied for at least 2 jobs while at Iowa State and may be taking less money.

It has been an unusual journey to say the least, but he's after a head coaching job and thus it worked out, I guess. Between Holberg, Otz, and everything the past couple of years, I'm just ready to have some stability/normalcy/nonspeculation in the basketball program. Is that even possible? lol (Obviously, I'm not talking about five consecutive NCAA tournament appearances.....I like that type of stability and hope it continues to be a normal occurrence.)

I would hope all of our assistants are chasing HC jobs. If not, you get something like Fran's staff that is just spinning their wheels on the recruiting trail every year.

Assistants going on to get HC jobs is a nice advert for the next crop of top guys coming through the ranks.

Maybe we can hire Mad Fran as an assistant/lead recruiter? I heard he has Iowa and Chicago recruiting on lockdown.

This. As long as the assistants are taking better jobs and not lateral moves or steps down, I'm perfectly fine with it. It means something is going right.

Couple things after looking into SDSU. Previous coach was there 20 years hadn't cracked a D1 top assistant pay rate. He would have to have a good few seasons there in order to bounce to something else.Could he get a better job? Maybe.

Is it hard to recruit guys to SDSU? Sure it is. But it was hard to recruit kids to Murray State also and Prohm ended up getting NBA level players to that school.

I see what you're saying but this is what happens when you are good. Other schools want your people. If these guys sucked, nobody else would want them.

Oh, I absolutely agree. I was just saying that there's just been unusual drama, he-said/he-said stuff, while these typical coaching moves happen. Just don't remember when Orr, Floyd, McDermott transitions happened, that there was so much comparing of coaches, why did so-and-so chose to do this, who gets along or buys in, was every attempt to keep someone made, and all that among other stuff. But, I think I know the answer. We didn't have near as much social media access back then and I didn't visit message boards. LOL

This would be ok. We're just sending him to groom in the minors so he can come back after Prohm gets bored of winning championships here.

For a staff like this it is a good thing that coaches move up and on. It does seem though a lot of good coaches have assts that have been with them a long time.
