South Dakota State Job

If TJ is offered the SDSU job the AD Justin Sell has some negotiating room. It's reported SDSU made a significant counter to coach Nagy but looks like we couldn't match Wright State's offer ($2.5 over 5 years).
SDSU probably has more catching up to do on assistants' salaries plus head coach pay.
SDSU is completing $100 million in building projects and fund raising continues...major upgrade to Frost Arena is next followed closely by a basketball practice facility.

The Argus Leader's Zimmer may have a better educated guess than most but so far the SDSU AD's office is keeping a lid on info about who is in the running.

Hmmm, maybe we are a couple players over scholarship limit because Prohm and TJ have worked it out so TJ can take a few players off our hands to his new gig? Course everyone's fair game in 2017.

Way up there
Did you see our bench this year? Pretty sure we missed out on recruiting somewhere.

Did you see the bench on TJ's last teams here? It was one guy, Tyrus McGee. OR were you aware there was a head coaching change last season that handcuffed the new staff as far as recruiting? Or that the best recruiter on the team bolted for St Johns, taking at least one recruit with him? Or did you notice that even though TJ was here before Fred left, he didn't sign anyone that had any impact this season?

TJ is a really good recruiter and I definitely don't want him leave but he is hugely overrated on this board.

TJ may end up getting the job, but wouldn't cross off the name Ryan Miller just yet. SD native and has paid his dues as an asst at Auburn and now UNLV. Would be a popular hire locally.

So where did Goodman get his list from? Can't wait to see what our local press comes up with....

Wish the 2017 class could be signed up before the main recruiter leaves. A good 2017 class could cover for a slim year the following year while a new guy gets his feet under him.

I'll just assume Prohm knows full well TJ may leave at some point and has been making sure he (Prohm) has a good relationship with all TJ's recruits as well. Cause not doing so would be dumb.

I don't think 2017 is necessarily a lost cause if TJ leaves. Prohm would just need to pony up to hire someone who is currently recruiting at a P5 school. In that case, we probably have some new recruits interested due to their relationship with the new assistant (see, e.g., our football recruiting this past year).

Yeah I'm not sure the SDSU job is one I would take if I was TJ. I feel like he can make the jump at a better school.

I don't know which current or future recruits he has been lead on, but SDSU would be a little harder to recruit to or take current recruits with you from an ISU perspective.

He will adapt. You're looking at more guys like Ashton, Ernst, etc.

I would guess he will hit the transfer maket and second tier Iowa juco guys hard.

He could probably take Ashton and ernst. Not saying he will, just saying it'd be a good fit.

I think this would be a fantastic job for TJ. It's a program that has been good for years, has a great player to build around in the Dauminator, is in the Midwest so he can use some recruiting ties he's developed, and he gets to make Lakesbison cry.
