Semantics

I don't get the argument anyway, here's what happened: The guy did send a tweet saying JP should be fired if the hire doesn't work out and that tweet did include "@IASTATEAD". That is really all I care about as a mitigating factor here. I'm not even defending JP for his response.

My point is JP got included because of how Twitter works. This guy did not jump on Twitter and directly send a tweet to JP. He responded to a question, and JP was brought in during the conversation. The difference for me is, had the guy went directly after JP from the start, I see people calling him a DB. I personally don't see anything douchey the guy did.

How long will this thread last before mods decide enough is enough

Let me be clear, I in NO WAY want JP gone. I've said this many times, and usually laugh at the people who want him gone. JP is by far the best thing to happen to ISU since I have been a fan. However, the football hire is very important, and if Campbell does not work out, I do think JP could be done at ISU.

So if Leath was involved in the process and not JP doing it alone would you still feel that way? Because if Leath was involved he would be partly to blame also.

that guy knew exactly who he was tweeting at. You are devaluing your argument by claiming otherwise.

I was going to Like your post until I read the last line. Is there a better football coach option for ISU right now? I think it's pretty unanimous that JP did the best for ISU he could with this hire. If this is the case, why would we blame JP for this not working out?

Most AD's dont get to hire 3 football coaches, let alone 4. Leath made it pretty clear he needs the football program to succeed if his vision for ISU is going to play out. At some point, the person making the hire and managing the hires has to be held responsible.

Blame em all. Leath, Jamie, Bruns, Bergstrom, Kill. Fire everybody.

Leath was part of the hiring process yes, but his involvement pretty much ends there. JP is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the AD.

Really hope Campbell is too busy to notice his AD is out trolling the fans warming up to the hire, rather than -I don't know- doing more important things with his time.

Then why did he not Tweet at JP the first time, and why did he tweet the second response to Steve Prohm and JP?

Campbell must be thinking this athletic director is crazy. These fans are crazy. Everybody is a drama queen here. What did I get myself into?

well, time for lakesbison to tweet jaime pollard.

Hey BisoNation who's worse @AndyFales whining about NDSU or @IASTATEAD calling out his own fans? both must be worried about NDSU beating ISU again..

I'm pretty sure things turned out poorly the last time you started a conversation with a public official

A better approach: "Yes, I responded to a fan's comment this morning. I said more than I should have, and I regret that. In other matters, Matt Campbell is already doing a fantastic job."

"Yes, I did respond to a fan's comment. However, I would like to move on and talk about Matt and the future of Iowa State football."

Your response is good but if you want to be JP's tweeter you are going to have to up the donations a bit.

Leath was part of the hiring process yes, but his involvement pretty much ends there. JP is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the AD.

So what you are telling me is:

A is the boss (Leath)
B is the Supervisor (JP)
C is the Manager (MC)
D is the employees (Players)

A & B jointly decide that C is the proper person for a job in B's department. A sits back and runs the business as a whole letting B run his department as he sees fit. B gives C everything he needs to succeed in his role. However, C ends up bringing in D's that aren't up to par. C's division of B's department isn't performing well despite B giving C all the tools he can. A&B then decide to replace C.

So in the above scenario you think B should be replaced?

I am glad I will never have to work for you.

I think it can be argued that B is not necessary giving C everything he needs.

Regardless, this is how it works pretty much everywhere. When B is constantly hiring a C that never pans out, at some point A needs to find another B, otherwise A might not be around for too long.

No freaking doubt. Now he goes on radio and calls the guy (season ticket/donor and supporter of new hire) a BULLY!!! Then says how it sure got Hawk fans riled up. This is embarrassing and perpetuates the little brother ********.
