I'm happy with how quickly things are progressing. The sooner these guys can recruit new players, and re-recruit our existing commits, the better off we are. I know, I know....

The article that was posted in this thread says Candle is a top 10 coordinator in the country. That's a huge upgrade compared from what we had, and I'm by no means knocking Sturdy.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm guessing we wouldn't be paying him as much to be OC as he could earn as HC at Toledo. I'm worried he'll get settled in for a couple days, then bolt back to Toledo when they offer him the HC job (although I wouldn't fault him for taking it).

Mangino was making 375k this year. Looking at Campbell's contract, he had a base of about 400k. So the pay may be comparable unless they decided to offer the same to him they apparently were going to offer campbell.

Between this and the recruiting offers already, Toledo is going to hate us for a long, long time if they go South and we go North from here.

I'm pretty pumped about this, I think toledo's offense is what we need(run heavy with downfield passes). Should be interesting how recruiting will go. I saw on toledo's message board that they were worried that CMC would pull Ohio kids and PA from Big Ten schools and Mac schools that would want to play in the Big 12 instead.

Compare Toledos recruiting class ranks to Iowa States. You guys are worried about pipelines? I'm worried about the quality of players they can bring in... and obviously it is better than we currently had.

I really don't understand the fan reaction today. This is tremendous news.

Look at join date and post count. It's a lot of goobers who dust off their login id and try to remember their password whenever there's a coach search. That's one more advantage of the quick turn, less time to deal with the riff raff.

This is awesome to have 4 guys on the offense who have all worked together before and at a high level at that. Interested to see who MC gets as the defensive cordinator

ISU has had so many misses the last few years that I can't believe anyone would by anything but happy at just the simplistic idea of a different group of guys getting out there and recruiting for the program, no matter where they are doing it at.

So apparently the entire Toledo staff will follow CMC. Makes perfect sense since an Ohio MAC team's staff will be entirely familiar with the Big XII's recruiting landscape.

Can we bring back Wayne Bolt, and Robert McFarland while we're at it?...

I said I wanted a "Jerry Kill type" of hire. One thing Kill did better than just about anybody was keep his staff in tact. I'm pretty sure the OC & DC were with him for 19 years, at multiple schools. Minnesota has improved in recruiting since Kill came on board even though his guys came from the MAC and had never recruited for a P5 team before.

As Brady Hoke showed, even with great talent, you can't win if you can't coach/develop.

I like what I see from Campbell in the very short time he's been on board!

Clearly by the fact he brought a few guys with him his whole staff will have no experience recruiting in the Big 12 and we must all write off his career right now and burn our football tickets and relocate to Chicago so we can watch the Bulls run because Prohm sucks too since he brought 33.3% of his recruiting assistants with him from Murray State. :jimlad:

MC is bringing something that hasn't been seen at ISU in 20 years. A coach with prior FBS HC experience and an established staff.

You are an idiot. Have u read up on Manning and the OC. Young guys who are stud recruiters. So far he's brought over 2 of what 11 coaching positions? You act like he brought the entir staff over. Have you ever heard of a new HC not bringing a few staff he's been with for years and feels comfy with? No. And last I checked we are about to pluck Toledo top two recruits from them and they are from the state of GASP Ohio! Don't think for a second that we can't recruit Ohio because this staff will..they've had long relationships there with all the Hs and to abandon it would be dumb. Campbell knows he will need TX roots in his staff. He's not an idiot.

First of all The Big XII is big boy football. Recruiting in the MAC doesn't necessarily translate to successful P5 recruiting. And one of those top recruits you mention had I believe only MAC school offers.

Ohio isn't going to become fertile recruiting ground for ISU or any other Big XII school. If you actually believe that it will, you're delusional. Ohio's Big Ten country; and always will be.

Our recruiting needs to be Texas-centric obviously. I would've liked for our OC to be a Texas guy with recruiting experience in the state. If that makes me an idiot, then whatever...

We bring in a few Florida coaches and suddenly land Florida recruits, but if we bring in Ohio coaches we can't land Ohio players? I might be wrong, but I feel like recruiting Ohio to Iowa would be easier than Florida to Iowa.

Maybe the DC will have ties to TX, maybe another positional coach. Why don't we all sit back and wait to see who he fills out his staff with before hollerin about recruiting ties. So you know...his list of Toledo offers and recruiting for next included players from both TX and GA
