I was drunker than Betty Ford last night by the time the game was over. Went to a buddy's house and watched the game with 3 other hardcore Cubs fans and one Cards fan (why was that ****** invited).

We barely sat the whole game....love playoff baseball. The Cards fan (very similar to a Hok fan) admitted he didn't want to play us in the NLDS.

Game 4 is an elimination game no matter what. You don't throw a bullpen game in an elimination game.

Lester has pitched on three days rest once in the post season and that was as 3 innings as a reliever after a 0.2 inning outing as a reliever in the 2007 ALCS. I really doubt he starts Game 4, which leaves you most likely with Hammels starting and a real short leash/all hands on deck type of game, if the Cubs haven't ended it before then.

Just watching highlights from the game last night. I know it was such a big play so it's hard to say it was underrated, but Castro's turn on that double play ball in the 5th inning was magnificent. Addy didn't exactly give him a great flip as it wasn't hard and it was kind of low but Castro starts throwing that ball before he even looks up and it was in such a huge moment. Great play especially considering he's only played 2nd for half a season now

Amazing play. Addy couldn't get it out of his glove and it was a long/slow flip. Luckily whoever was running was about as fast as me.

Lester will go on 3 days rest if they are down 2-1 in the series. You don't pay that much money to have him watch an elimination game from the bench.

Not buying the "3 vs. 5 day rest" talk. If their back is against the wall, you pitch Lester/Arietta game 4/5. We're just trying to survive at this point, not save arms.

I would take Arietta on 3 days rest over anyone on the staff.

ok, but Arrieta won't have a chance to pitch on 3 days rest because there's only two days between game 3 and 5

That's false. The runner (Marte) is probably their fastest player. Ball was hit so hard that it gave them a chance.

Just start Jake all 5 games, it's the ******* playoffs, tell him to stop being a ***** and get out on the mound.

Another thing I found somewhat interesting was after the benches cleared, Fowler was one of the main guys in the middle of it barking away. Not sure what to really think of it but after seeing so many people say he'll walk cause of the money, it was really cool to see him sticking up for his guys to that extent even if he might not be on the team next year.

but dang I really hope he is

stat track showed the exit velocity of Marte's hit at 109.4 mph. The "error" before had an exit velocity of 107.

To compare, Schwarb's bomb had an exit velocity of 111 mph and DF's dinger was 103.

Those were some hot-shots up the middle. Addy saved a run by stopping the first one and saved the game by making a play on the second.

Not what im saying at all. If you're down 2-1 going into Game 4, do you want to do what you can to win, or do you want to have a bullpen day? In the very least, I think you pitch Lester Game 4, and Hendricks Game 5. (both on 3 days rest).

Of course this is all situational. If you're up 2-1 going into game 4, you pitch Hamel or Haren (Id honestly lean towards Haren at this point) in game 4, and Lester Game 5.

lol easy on the hendricks stuff. I'm counting on the Cubs losing his start unless they have an offensive explosion and the difference between him and Haren isn't anywhere close enough to warrant starting him on three days rest.

You guys are getting all worked up over who's going to pitch. Relax. Joe Maddon is our manager, not a Dusty Baker. Trust in Joe. Guy is a mastermind.
