Story Co.
83 wins and just miss the playoffs but I'll be happy as hell to watch the Cubbies play meaningful ball in September.

Really looking forward to next season, but hoping this season is going to be exciting and at least a wild card contender. Beat the Cards!!

It was the little things last night night that did the Cubs in.

Like Maddon said earlier in Spring Training, poor fundamentals.

Yeah last night was just sloppy, the bullpen was great though. So frustrating with the RISP stat, that and the defense were 2 areas where the veteran Cardinals really shined at while the Cubs really struggled.

Nothing changes based off last night, and I predicted this before last night. Cubs will finish 1 game over .500 (82 wins) and will miss the playoffs by about 7 games.

How come Alcantara didn't start at 2nd last night?

Once Bryant is up, and Maddon can start setting a lineup, this team will be fun to watch.

I was a little disappointed in Soler's defense and Castro's defense. Castro will be much better away from short stop. Soler was just plain sloppy. He's better than that and he'll figure it out.

Mike Olt didn't do much to help himself either. He has a 2 week window to prove he belongs on the roster and he goes 0-4 with 2 K's while looking completely lost at the plate last night which looks a lot like his lines from last season. Opening the season with just 5 hits, 2 walks, and 12 K's as a team not pretty either. Yeah the Cards K'd 11 times too but they also got guys on base and executed well when they had guys on base. The Cubs defense sure didn't help matter either allowing a few free bases too. I know it's just 1 game and there are 161 more to go but the concerns everyone had going into the season pretty much all played out on the field last night.

On a bight note, we didn't see Edwin Jackson last night after a short night by Lester :twitcy: They are probably saving him for when one of the back end of the rotation guys gets rocked early and it won't matter what he does unlike last night that all it would have taken is a couple solid innings at the plate to be right in that game.

Runners on first and third with less than two ours and Castro strikes out.

These guys just don't get it. Which shocks me because Maddon is so focused on fundamentals that you'd think we'd suck a lot less with RISP.
