(What happened with T.J. Otzelberger?) “Went back to Iowa State. I just think in his long-term future, for him in the big picture, it was something he felt was a great move, and I think sometimes when situations happen like that, you scratch your head and you wonder, but if you just wait and you’re patient, it’ll all begin to make sense. And I think his will make sense.”

(Given your love of the UW basketball program, would you resign your position if you felt you were no longer the right person for the job?) “There’s no question. But you know what, again, I hate to harp on the same thing, but it is the truth. When you go out and you bust your tail, and you see the results of the players that you’re able to go out and secure to bring into your program, and you do it in back to back years. I really do feel like in back to back years, we’ll have as good of classes as we’ve had since we’ve been here at the University of Washington. To me, that speaks to someone who is determined and someone who is not content at all. Someone who is driven and is going to do everything in his power to get this back in the right direction. So the talk that what you’re saying, I’m not thinking that at all. We’re ready to go.”
(Do recruits ask you about YOUR job?) “Oh, it comes up.”
(Is that uncomfortable?) “I think it’s just part of the job. We’ve not won national championships like Jim Boeheim and Syracuse, but I’ve been knowing Coach Boeheim for a while, and they ask him that question. I think in this day and age, if you go a couple years without making the TOURNAMENT , I think people begin to speculate, regardless of where you are.”

Dude is on the hot seat. By no stretch of the imagination is his job at Washington better than ISU.

I would guess Lorenzo is not confident he's going to be coaching much longer at UW.

IF it has something to do with Fred... I wouldn't be surprised if it's more to do with Fred's health than his desire to be an NBA head coach.

In the link CW just put up with the video the Mayo doctor says, “He will do well, and his prognosis is for a normal life.”

I would be pretty ****** if we replaced Hoiberg with Otz. He can't get a sniff at any other D1 places and has almost no relationships built with current recruits since he just got here.

Seems like a great guy and a good recruiter but there are proven, high profile guys out there ISU can land.

Or at least try and land for gods sake.

Wow... I'm sure the head coach of Washington has inside info on Fred's health and desires to coach somewhere else.

It's almost like going to a protologist for a toothache

Guys-
Did you find it odd that TJ cancelled his head coaching interviews at the smaller schools he had scheduled? I am not saying it will definitely happen, but when I read that, it sure seemed to make total sense....I think Williams following Matt may have been an indicator as well...

Hope I am wrong, but I have been under the imression TJ is the next head coach since he announced coming back

Cue everyone rushing to the ledge that this is about Fred to Bulls, Fred to the Moon, Fred to anywhere but ISU.

Something tells me this is more about UW than us.

This. Hard to tell without hearing him say it but he sounded kind of negative with how he responded. I don't think he words it that way if TJ was getting a big time gig

Definitely a Washington thing. Like someone else said, I really doubt Romar knows what Fred's future plans are.
