I predicted this on Saturday. Funny how all the new coaches at NDSU had no problem.

Completely agree with this. The last 3 or 4 years or so it doesn't matter who we open against they look ready to play and have a plan and execute that plan. We don't look like we have a plan and if we do when things start going bad we can't make effective adjustments.

So losing to FCS teams in back to back seasons should be acceptable? Got it.

Some people have zero expectations. They are just happy to be anything even if it is pathetic and embarrassing.

Listen folks, a lot of programs stumble in year six of a new coaching staff. Oh, wait, no, that is usually about when you know if you have a coach that can recruit and develop talent? Ugh.

Idk... maybe because they're using the same damn system with the same language, check downs, etc. think a little.
They at least rarely looked to the sidelines this year.

That said, last year we gained more yardage.

I am as ****** as the next guy about Saturday but to call for the coaches head is ridiculous especially one under contract for as long as he is. Guess what we have had over 50,000 in JTS 20 times in a row, that's unprecedented he isn't going anywhere.

1. Mark Mangino will be fine, people ******** about his offense after the first week are stupid.
a. Likely hasn't installed it all yet
b. Threw screen passes because after QB went out maybe they were triple teaming Bibbs (Sam proved this fact), throwing underneath possibly could have made them play honest. Plus they were pinning their ears back rushing the QB, a screen pass can neutralize that by sucking them in and going over the top of them. That's smart playcalling, did it work, no, but it wasn't like we threw 15 wide receiver screens to the flat.
c. when Farniok went down there was a noticeable change.
d. When Bundrage went down, there went our big time deep threat, allowing them to key on Bibbs downfield.
e. The Ints were bad luck for us and good luck for them.
f. Having both Farniok and QB go out as early as they did spelled disaster. I guarantee you they got most of the reps during game week with the new offense being installed. I believe it would have been a dog fight with those two not so much of a laugher.
2. The defense needs help, we all knew this going in. What I do see is a lot of young guys playing, Alton Meeks will have a good career here. The ejection of Cotton Moya was BS, if that's how they are going to call targeting this year, I may say **** college football.

3. Those of you calling CW out for making fun of the NDSU fan need to leave this FREE site immediately of CW needs to start charging for the use of the immense amount of content that this website provides. It would definitely reduce the number of DA's around here. Every one of us would have laughed at that guy calling the score, we all knew it would be a tough game but all of us didn't think we would get beaten down.

Can I give you 10 thumps up? This is much more the reality than what else has been said on this site.

Where did I say that losing to FCS teams was acceptable?

No kidding. Why is it that all the crazies think that you have to act like a self-deserving middle schooler and if you don't, you think losing like this is acceptable?

We were the only team to lose to an fcs team from the big 5 conferences. Only one other fbs school lost to an fcs school, Florida international, as if they count, and they only lost by 2. We lost by 20. 20 is ten times bigger than two. I'm sorry happy go lucky cYclone fans but I'm gonna be wallowing in this feces for a while. It smells and feels better than the false hope coming from Ames these days. . .

If everyone leaves the free site wouldn't that hurt the site's page view count? If the page view count falls wouldn't it be difficult for the site to get advertising dollars? If there's no advertising dollars then how can the site stay free?

Who said that those of us who aren't attacking everything are "happy" about anything?!

2a. Was curious, when I subtracted the two long runs from NDSU's rushing totals, they ran 41 times for a 3.7 ypc average. That's a respetable performance on 41 of 43 carries--and at least one of those two was at least partly due to a new player being out of position.

the frustrating part...

~ is this team that mentally fragile?

~ Our backup center---or backup at any other position, should be able to 'hold their own' against any FCS player

They imploded after Farniok went down

It's not acceptable to lose to a FCS team. It's also not acceptable I act like an absolute douscher and calling out individual players, coaches, and even freaking CW. Some of you are real pieces of work and make this site unbearable during the last 48 hours.

I'm just as ****** as you guys are that we got man handled by NDSU but I don't feel the need to put every single thought that came to my mind in a new thread.

Halfof these threads seem to be started by posters I've never even seen before. Are you the trolls that just come out of the woodwork when things go bad?

Section 1, subpart e? It's pretty bad when the excuse list needs a ******* table of contents.

Good points on both sides of this argument. I don't wanna be an Iowa ******, but I also don't like throwing good money after bad. I think we need a few more games to see if this was an exception or a rule for this team.

BTW, what players said they wanted to go home? Never heard that before, but I'm not big on the twitters.

It would appear they are as fragile as a cracked egg..

Seriously when 1 guy goes down the offense stops, and we are not talking QB here.

It almost seems to me that half the new posters are semi converted hawk fans. I liked this site better before we were the hot thing after beating okie state..

I have thought similar that nothing was terrible on defense other than allowing the 3 and 5s to be picked up by NDSU. They only scored 17 the second half when our offense was doing the dainties with 60 yards. I think it is the old story that the defense was left out to hang and dry and had some flu/dehydration problems. The offense does not pass the taste test. Hate to say it, but thought Mangino would bring a bigger change than what happened yesterday. The offense players did not look bad on the line, but nothing got done. Running was anemic, passing was short and inefficient. We only had two turnovers, few penalties, and still was smashed. They outyardaged 350-100 in the last part of the game.

The targeting call was freaking unbelievable. The defender just stood there three yards away as the receiver went charging at him after he lost his balance and dove forward towards our guy. Our guy slightly dipped his helmet and a soft collision occurred. It is one thing for the ref to make the call. It was a crap thing for the review booth to say it was targeting. That means our poor defense will have even more problems guarding people.

I still feel like ISU has been severely hosed on two different replays. Texas and this last one. How can you look at that video and still think that it was targeting? Even the announcers were like WTF!

Because the officials screwed up.

The call on the field was Personal Foul - Targeting (with the head), which is an automatic ejection and replay cannot overturn it, making that 5-minute replay irrelevant and a waste of time.

What they should have called was Personal Foul - Unnecessary Roughness, which is not an automatic ejection, but can be reviewed and changed to Targeting and an ejection if necessary. While we don't necessarily like the personal foul, none of us could really argue against it because it was a late/unnecessary hit - but at least on the replay it was clear it wasn't a targeting foul. Once targeting was called, his day was done whether he did it or not.
