Good to hear about Miller. We're going to have a drop off in LB production next year. No two ways about it. Hearing that he's progressing nicely will hopefully soften the blow a little.

First of all, thanks Chris! Good stuff.

Miller has been listed everywhere from 6'-2" to 6'-4", prior to this year. Last year, he was listed at 6'-4", and I thought he looked taller than Knott out there. Either way, he's tall enough, I guess. I wonder if there's any thought to him being our 3rd big linebacker when we go to those sets, or if it will be George.

Hey Chris, do you happen to have insight into the staff's "grading" system of players? What does it mean to us that TJ is at 50-60 percent?

Can't speak to ISU's system, but most defensive grading systems give/take away points based on pre-snap reads/checks/alignment, post-snap mental errors/technique, and overall making a play. Bonus points for forcing turnoves/TFL's big play.

In the programs I've been a part of, championship-level football is usually considered somewhere in the 80-ish percent range

On most of the videos I've seen, it seems like there are lots of guys standing around waiting a turn. I've heard of other programs whose practices have tons of stations so that everyone is doing something all the time (particularly so that the backup players get more "reps" just like the starters). Is ours not like that? Or am I just not seeing the whole picture?

Just curious--if Farniok has put on 18 pounds, why is his roster size the same as last season? Is he 298 now--or was he only really 262 last season?

a 50 for a true freshman isnt too bad. TJ will be a solid DB for us in the years to come

Well, 298 - 18 = 280. I think he was in that range last season.
