Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Morris brothers and Selby decide to stay one more year after what happened today. I hope to god they leave and then we can just see how they reload with a few late pickups in April. Which brings me to another point...

After last season alot people thought maybe KU would be down this year because of the loss of Aldrich, Collins, and Henry. Obviously that wasn't the case. But let's say the Morris twins, and Selby leave. Who is still out there that KU could grab at this point that would instantly make them serious contenders again next year? With all the coaching turnover there will be in the BIG 12 next year and if KU could potentially be having a down year, could there be a more perfect situation for ISU to jump to the top of the BIG12???

I didn't see one call against VCU that was questionable. I saw about 5 or 6 against Kansas and a couple were terrible. There was a block called on one of the Morris' that was an obvious charge. The refs weren't on their side. Even with all that, they should have won anyway.

Please, that was an obvious flop. They probably would have gotten the call at Smog Allen, but that wouldn't make it the right call.

It was a flop, but it also was not a foul on KU. Morris was so busy flopping it would be hard to say he pushed the VCU guy.
I did not see the foul on the 3-point shot, but maybe it was the angle.

KU choked today. Not sure why "22" is so bent on pushing his very specific definition of choking... Call it what you want. I call it a choke.

I haven't looked throughout the full discussion here, but I didn't see the game today as a choke job by KU at all. I give credit to VCU for beating them. Interesting that they had success scoring on KU with the same type of lineup we had this past year. Only exception being their five is a much more athletic player, and beyond Skeen they seemed to have a few better athletes than us.

I had similar thoughts- their game plan was similar to what we wanted to do. I think they had better players everywhere except at pg- more athletic and more players that could break you down. That said, we would look a lot better if we could count on KU missing 13 out of 28 FT's and miss open looks.

I agree with a few others that I would hardly label this loss as 'choking'... Yes, they didn't shoot good from the stripe and missed shots that they normally would have go down, however I don't believe it was a choking loss for them...

Choking would have been if they had the chance to tie/lead the game with those free throws late in the game; or perhaps if they missed lay-ins that would have took the lead for them. For much of the game and most importantly the final 8 minutes plus it felt like VCU had control of the game, although the early part of the second was clearly KU's... They didn't choke, they just got out-played today...

Maybe, but the shoulder was lowered. It may not have been a charge, but it wasn't a block.

Tayshaun taylor did what he wanted for a large part of the game. I thought Kansas should have gone to him more is VCU was going to pack it in against the twins.

If this is not a "Choke" then, there is no such definition:

KU

3-pt Fg: 2-21. 0.095 %

FG; 22-62. 35.5 %

FT: 15-28. 54%

I looked in the dictionary under "choke" and saw the KU team picture. I guess that settles it. KU has done this before. KU choking and the Masters tell me Spring is here.

Anybody else watching that game today wish we had that Skeen kid in our frontcourt this season? Or Rodriguez for that matter...imagine having him and Garrett on the court at the same time.

I guess I find it amazing that KU doesn't have anyone better than Reid and Morningstar to roll out there. Self must have really blew it in recruiting, because those two guys SUCK. I'd actually take ISU's guard court over KU's this season.

Reid and Morningstar couldn't hit anything today. They threw up brick after brick and Self never took them out. Must really not trust his bench I guess.

Kansas once again not earning its seed, means choking.

Kansas, a #1 seed, losing to VCU, a #11 seed, is choking.

Kansas not hitting shots when the pressure is on and the refs don't baby them along, is choking.

As one of the local sports TV guys in KC says, the Big12 refs don't do KU any favors by making sure they win the conference and get the good seed. They don't learn how to deal with adversity or pressure, and when NCAA tourney time comes, and all the eyes are on them, they fold. Repeatedly.

Think just in our lifetimes, how many times do you remember Kansas going further than they should in the tourney? How many times did they lose early? Exactly.

Rock. Choke. Jayhawk. Let them chant that.

Judging by your post, you seem pretty emotional about it, so I'm guessing its not possible to have a reasonable discussion here but I'll give it a shot.

If a team is a #1 seed how can they possibly exceed expectations? Only four teams out of 300some division one teams get to go to the final four. "Only" making the elite eight is nothing to sneeze at. I thought VCU had a good gameplan and executed it well. I'm almost always of the mindset to give the victors the credit for winning instead talking about why someone lost. Obviously alot of KU's shooting woes had to do with the fact that VCU played good defense.

I'm not going to get into a debate about referees, too difficult measure the refs effect on there season when I only have watched them play 2x's vs us, B12 & NCAA tournament.

Perhaps against my better judgment, I feel the need to get involved in this thread to point this out:

KU has more tournament wins in the last 10 tournaments (2002-2011) than any other school - and it's not especially close. If Kansas is choking every year, what do we call what every other school in the country is doing?

Depends on who the other teams have lost to and in what manner.
How has KU played to their seed compared to other programs?

We call it "watching Kansas choke"?
