Action 3 News in Omaha is reporting that Creighton has offered Greg McDermott a 10 year, 9 million dollar deal and that McDermott has accepted the offer already. Working on more right now.
You were watching the Ames news and you should have been watching the Omaha news.

Where is the guy that nominated the "What if Greg went to Creighton" post for ******** post of the week?

He's busy.

I agree, keep Nurse around on an interim basis and see if he can get the job done. If not, we have next year's off-season to find a new coach.

If you're Nurse, you likely follow Mac, unless offered the head coaching job with a contract. I doubt he would accept an interim deal, IMHO.

I bet Nurse goes with him.

The greatest bball player in ISU history is basically lame duck after 2 days on the job. I bet he's wondering why he left Flint for this.

Maybe we could find him a spot elsewhere in the Athletic department. IIRC he just lost his last job.

Few points:

I believe this is a great scenario for both ISU and GMac. I really hope the best for Greg, and this is a VERY good job that he has proven he can succeed at.

McDermott DOES have an agent, clearly one that is doing a great job.

I am hearing he will take Eric Crawford to Creighton with him, as an assistant coach.

More details to follow, I agree with Chris, I am hearing the offer has been on the table since early this morning and yet to officially be accepted.

I think we have to be hesitant to rush into hiring Nurse long term. It would be a big mistake to hire someone too quickly right now when we could wait and have a full off-season to hire someone next year. I still think we could keep Nurse around in the interim.

I wouldn't, that would absolutely kill recruiting.

I was going to say you're wrong about that (as far as the long-term, because I'm in the "interim" camp myself).

I think you're half-wrong. This year's recruiting season is basically toast, and I think making Nurse the coach would be pulling the trigger too quickly (and there are no hot coaching prospects hanging around in limbo right now).

However, considering how long the Oregon jobs has been open, maybe JP found out Altman could move, and Creighton had interest in GMac, and that's why the Nurse/Grayer stuff happened. If so, you're three-fourths correct.

Nurse seems like a Pollard hire in the Paul Rhodes realm. If that's The Decision, I hope it works.
