The Airborne Toxic Event is probably my fav this year.
This is at the top of my list as well. These guys (and gal) are extremely talented musicians.

How come everytime there is a list of Bands and Albums people try and post groups and albums that nobody has ever heard of just so they can try and pull of the "I am sophisticated in my music selection" deal. They are the same people that go spend 5 dollars per album more at a crappy independent store than at best buy for no reason.
I used to work at a live band venue and used to try and pull this off till I realized I was stupid and nobody ever know what the hell I was talking about.
Long live the U.S. Bombs. Duane Peters rules.
They can't keep making "Ten" over and over. Only one band in history has acheived the kind of longevity PJ has without having ever branched out musically from where they started: AC/DC.
I don't know if that is directed at me or not but I can give you my last.fm id. It would probably come close to reflecting my list. Are there even indie music stores around here?

Wow... I couldn't name one album that came out this year. I didn't even know half the bands some of you guys named.
I guess no one listed any country albums so that is probably the reason.
I don't know if I feel old (only 30) since I don't know any of these albums or happy my musical taste starts and ends with country.
Yeah, I think most people who are into indie music get it online - which is how a large portion of the music-buying public overall gets their music.
There are a small portion of people who get into indie music because of pretension, but usually it's because they have niche or offbeat music tastes, or realize that a lot of amazing bands out there never make it to 107.5.
You could classify half of Al's list as country...fer sher.
Crappy independent music stores vs Best Buy? You are what's wrong with America.
................................................Poker Face is one of the best songs of last year and it was ALL OVER 107.5...just sayin.

I love small time indie stores, but they will dissapear as digital media becomes the only media. I like to collect album art and still buy vinyl of some bands that continue to release on it, but its going to be very hard to find.
