It's about that time. I don't think (I'm not sure) that anything of consequence is coming out before the new year. Here goes, in no particular order

Lucero "1372 Overton Park"
Them Crooked Vultures "S/T"
Pearl Jam "Backspacer"
Black Crowes "...Before the Frost ...Until the Freeze"
Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit "S/T"
Patterson Hood "Murdering Oscar (and other love songs)"
Dinosaur Jr. "Farm"
Drive-By Truckers "The Fine Print"
Umphrey's McGee "Mantis"
Built to Spill "There is no Enemy"

Honorable Mention (I need to listen to some of these more)
Wilco "Wilco: The Album"
Dave Matthews Band "Big Whiskey and the Groo Grux King"
Alice in Chains "Black Gives Way to Blue"
Monsters of Folk "S/T"
The Flaming Lips "Embryonic"
The Decemberists "Hazards of Love"

I need to do my annual December sit-down to go over my list, but these three are definitely near the top:

The Joy Formidable, "A Balloon Called Moaning"
Red Light Company, "Fine Fascination"
Yeah Yeah Yeahs, "It's Blitz!"

Wow I am intrigued at your musical tastes.

There aren't many genres I don't appreciate at some level. Yes, that even includes country (Real country. Not the pop music with a twang that you hear on any "country" radio station.) and rap/hip-hop.

New Pearl Jam sucks. Just like there last 8 albums.

They can't keep making "Ten" over and over. Only one band in history has acheived the kind of longevity PJ has without having ever branched out musically from where they started: AC/DC.

Heads in the sky
Dave Matthews Band "Big Whiskey and the Groo Grux King"
Kid Cudi "Man on the moon: the end of day"
John Mayer "battle studies"
Black Eyed Pea's "The E.N.D"
Jay-Z "the blueprint 3"
Jack Johnson "En Concert"

Those were my favorite, i doubt any besides dmb would make it.

Black Eyed Pea's "The E.N.D"

This band is one of the worst ever.

New Alice Chains actually took me by suprise. Very good with the new singer. He is no Lane Staley but he is very good.

This one had it's moments, but I was a little disappointed. I needed some Jack White guitar freak outs.

Saw SSSC live with NIN and Jane's Addiction in Kansas City this summer. SSSC nearly had the most energetic set out of all of them. Album was pretty impressive.

So now that my list is there, my only job is to tell you how your list blows and how only a mongoloid dishwasher at Hickory Park would find your trite musical selections entertaining.

So far on this thread it's been my job to tell people that the albums they like actually suck. You can scroll back through and see for yourself.

My 3 favorites

The Dead Weather - Horehound
Jay-Z "the blueprint 3"
Kings of Leon-Use Somebody

I'm a little biased though. nearly anything Jack White puts together is going to be near the top for me.

Amazingly, I don't think I've bought a new album this year. Isn't it about time for Fugazi to put out one last disc?

I've loved Kings of Leon for the past several years, but they got wildly overplayed this year. They're still on massive rotation for songs released this spring. I know their record company is pumping them, but I don't need to hear the same song every other hour.

The Airborne Toxic Event is probably my fav this year. I do really like the DMB album though.
