It is almost comical watching the hb fans and Ames alums try and spin this, isn't it? It is almost like they are personally invested.

Me, I had a guy I knew from high school play in 4 SuperBowls and win 2, and retired as the winningest active player in the NFL. Yeah it is sorta cool, doesn't change my life any today really.
And yet you don't mention all the poor ISU fans crying so much because someone didn't choose their school? Like they have so much invested? Interesting.

Too bad Iowa State was on his list. Everyone would be over this by now had he eliminated us even one day sooner. Are you really not understanding the frustration with how he handled this?

I guess we may need to give up... it's like banging your head on the wall... they just don't get how much of a slap in the face his lead-on and delivery was to ISU and the majority of it's fan base.

Every single person here is singing a different tune if he goes through with the same production but chooses ISU instead. Every. Single. Person. So don't give me the crap about how it was all in how he did it and not his decision.

As soon as you all get over with your cry baby acts try thinking about the bigger picture. You may be hurt that Barnes got your hopes up and you may think negatively that he left ISU on the list even if he never intended to come, but my feeling is that he left ISU on the list out of respect to ISU. I'm guessing if you ask Mac whether he would have liked to be taken off the list 6 months ago or whether it was great exposure for Iowa State to show up everytime they showed Barnes' top 6. I would argue leaving ISU "hanging" was actually a nice gesture and one that Mac appreciated. Cutting ISU out of the running early would not have said much about ISU to other future recruits.

I'd like to stick a microphone in HB's face and ask him,
"...why didn't you just leave ISU off your short list? I didn't see one rep. from any other school there. Just curious as to why you kept ISU as an option when you knew full well you weren't going to end up there?" And above all, Why would you (or allow anyone else) to call a presser for something like where you are going to attend school next year?
If I were HB... (Let me put it this way...) When I figured out where it was that I wanted to be at, I would have gotten with the press quietly and stated where I was going. I might have blurted it out after my 1st game this season. And HEY! If ya'll want to get together and hear me make it official, or witness my signing, then come on over and watch... I certainly wouldn't want to use the press & public and the Community for my own personal gain. etc... etc...

At least this part is correct, because he would have made that announcement in front of a gym full of Cyclone fans, not a gym full of Tarheel fans.

So then it was the decision and not the act, exactly. Now people can stop lying.

That's a load of crap. Did you watch any T.V. today? ESPN really never mentioned us as a final six. I actually don't really remember too many articles that I read really mentioned us either.

So adults should be the only ones allowed to post here?

No. Just people that are capable of rational thought.

In all seriousness, we're all talking over each other. You're focused on the decision. We're focused on the fashion in which he announced the decision. I think that's the disconnect.

I stated in my first post the decision makes a lot of sense and that most of us would do it ourselves. I was a Cyclone fan before I was old enough to find Ames on a map, but if I were blessed with enough basketball skill to be courted by UNC in high school I can't say I'd for sure be an ISU alum today. It's an opportunity not many would pass up.

The fact is that Harrison is a bright kid and very shrewd. If he's not, he can't keep a secret until the last minute living under the microscope he does. It's hard to watch a kid this calculated act so classy and so mature for so long and then pull some adolescent BS in a press conference like that. Empty, condescending "thank yous" to the other teams. Skype. All the fan fare. Makes you wonder what his motivation was all along. If you don't see why people in the ISU community think it's over the top considering the circumstances, maybe you will someday.

It is not about what school he ******* picked! Most of us knew it wasn't going to be ISU. Hell I heard from a good source we were out of it as of almost a month ago.

The problem is with the stringing along and making such a big deal about his signing day.

Answer this simple question: By holding the event in the gymnasium, and not only inviting but many would say encouraging the local public to attend his announcement, would that lead the local populace to believe or disbelieve that he planned to choose the local university?

If you are honest with your answer, you will understand why there is so much righteous anger tonight on CYCLONE Fanatic.

He choose not to be a Cyclone. Fine. Laters dude. Take your fans with you, leave us true Cyclones to enjoy our team and our university.

I think the thing that really gets me is that some of us were saying how different Harrison was from other kids his age that were being recruited. He isn't. To me he is no different than Collison, Lafrentz, and Heinrich.

Kind of a lot easier to say from the outside looking in though don't you think?

Wow, you just don't get it. ISU fans don't think ISU is a second rate university. We have great pride in our university and don't need the charity. ISU is bigger than Barnes will ever be... does he think it's an honor for ISU to be included in his top 6 and then stubbed in person. What an inflated ego if that's true. Barnes handled this poorly. The proof is in the reaction by ISU and it's fan base. Had he handled this well this argument wouldn't exist. It's that simple.
