"If you are telling me that someone from Eastern Washington could be drafted ahead of the first Blue Devil, I am telling you that your choice of school has zero impact on your draft status."

This.

The article doesn't mention Barnes wanting to be a national championship contender.

If it were just about getting to the NBA, then that reduces the confusion considerably, and it would seem obvious that ISU is just as good as any other place. But if HB is serious about his academics and the opportunity to compete for a national title in college, then it becomes far more complex... as we have seen.

Obviously a good article from our standpoint, and it is good to see someone else put some of the same sentiments we have into writing. I don't think his "one and done" argument (that guides the entire article) is such a big deal as he is making it...but oh well.

By the way, does anyone else find it ironic that HB has spent a few days a week hanging out w/the BB team over the last couple years? Hasn't the developing friendships, getting to know McD & his coaching style better & understanding how & what the ISU guys have a tendency to do on the court?

I bring this up as I remember reading an article a few weeks back that mentioned it and thought it might be very difficult for him to look those guys in the eyes & tell them he doesn't think STATE is a good fit for him.

Again, just more conspiracy theory but I guess in my little world it all makes sense but would completely understand if he went elsewhere simply as it's his choice.

I don't know if it means anythign or not, but Doug McD signed today with a few other AHS athletes and HB was there. Every ISU caoch was there supporting Doug which I thought was pretty cool of them. They and HB all kind of talked and you could really tell HB was very, very comfortable with this staff.

HB also had an ISU sweatshirt on for whatever that is worth. It was kind of nice seeing these kids all together - my son is in their class and has been friends with most of these guys since little dunkers and little league.

At one time, a different dad told Harrison that we would make him a ckae liek some of the other kids had today we just needed to know what school colors to put on it (the other kids had a UNI cake - McDermott, a SUSU Cookie - Purcell, a WSC Cake - Hansen, and a Minnesota cake - Kiona) so we thought we would get a scoop on his choice. HB smoothly, I mean very smoothly says "let's go with a white cake" I lol'd at that point. This kid is gold, and is NOT letting on one way or another excpet hopefully for his clothes choice.

Except for the fact that Duke and UNC both have white in their school colors......:wideeyed:

It's going to part of his announcement. He's going to say Iowa State and slather the white cake with red and yellow frosting. DUH!!

Perfect, that would make sense since I heard the Food Network is going to be in town starting some live event at 3:30 from AHS. Basketball and Cakes - The Road Show

With all of the little signs that are adding up, it would be straight up COLD for HB to not pick ISU on friday. And it seems like "cold" is exactly the kind of person he isn't. I'm definitely "cautiously optimistic" right now.

If he doesn't end up giving ISU the nod, are there any charges we can file against him? False advertisement or something along those lines?

I am not sure cold would be it. I think he is comfortable, but I also think McDermott knows in his heart he has done absolutely everythign he can to get HB in ISU and everyone is now at the I will respect you no matter stage.

That is one thing ALL Cyclones need to keep in mind, regardless of the outcome Coach McDermott has done everything he can to land HB.

False advertising for sure. Possibly alienation of affection.

Agree 100%. I've been VERY tough on Greg at times, but there is little doubt they've left it all out on the court in regards to HB.
