Hmmm, you must be thinking of that other guy. I predicted a 49 point blowout.

(you know I'm messing with you, right?)
:biglaugh: well I had a hunch with your "" but I wasn't exactly sure.. I was starting to drive myself crazy thinking who it was. Well, good. I'm glad it's all sorted out now.

I'm happy to be so wrong in this case. (Plus I knew you likely wouldn't find those posts for awhile with the site transition!)

As I said last night, I felt that a blowout win would say more about this team than a close victory. That said, I thought BHS would be better than they were, but we definitely looked impressive tonight, and good things are coming this year.

It was really cool to see how all the players have progressed from last season. It looked like all of the returning players were really comfortable out there. It was easy to see that many of them had a season under their belt, particularly Hamilton and Buckley.

It was also great to see that we have added a huge amount of athleticism with Dendy, Gilstrap, and Colvin. Colvin played like a freshman, but has a really athletic body and some good moves. I think he's gonna be a really special player for us in 2 or 3 years, and will definitely contribute this season.

Overall, I was very impressed with how the team performed tonight, particularly in the first 10-15 offensive possessions, which were virtually flawless

Just off of what I saw tonight I'd say the rotation needs to be Garrett, Staiger, Gilstrap, Colvin, Buckley, Brackins, Hamilton, and Dendy. That would be a great 8 man rotation. Maybe a little dose of JVB and Boozer. But first impressions I'd say those 8 are our guys.

No Christopherson? It's nice to be able to "forget" about players like Christopherson. Depth is nice to have.

Everybody looks a lot more cut this year and they all look trim and strong. Buck and Lucca lost some weight and they look great. Buck looks a lot more confident out there and under control. Colvin is the most athletic PG and has the best lateral movement on defense but IMO he's still a year away.

Good, fun game tonight. They played way off the ball so we didn't get much dribble penetration so I'm curious to see how that will play out against better teams. I know we scored a ton of points but I didn't see a whole lot that blew me away. Just a solid win over a team that was absolutely physically overmatched.

Gilstrap was bigger than anybody they had and looked every bit of 6'7". Still a little awkward at times as you can tell he's learning the system and defense. Every physical tool you could hope for though.
You wouldn't put Christopherson in the lineup???

Agree with this mostly, but what about Christopherson? He looked like he belonged out there tonight. I'm waiting on putting Colvin up there until I see him go up against some seasoned guards.

Did Vanderbeeken play?

No. Greg said postgame that MAYBE he can practice this week and get in the game Friday. Outside chance though, but good to hear he is close.

Fun game in Hilton tonight. Can't recall the last time we had 50 at the half. Lots of guys contributed which was great.

Gilstrap had a very quiet but good night. I liked it.

Dendy? Impressive.

We are no longer a one-man show, that is for sure! I was excited to get up to Hilton tonight, and I am looking forward to Friday as well. But I am REALLY excited to get the real season underway, can't believe real games are over a week away still! And last but not least, I am thrilled to be attending basketball games while still maintaining an interest in football!!!

We definitely ran sets, especially at the beginning of the game, but they also definitely ran the court when given the opportunity. I don't see this team being one that pushes the ball up the court every play and tries to push the tempo the entire game, but one that will run the court when they have the opportunity, and since we have better athletes, I think we'll have the opportunity more often.

What did McDermott say about Bubu?

He seemed pretty happy with both Bubu and Dorr, said they had both been doing a great job in practice, especially playing D against Brack & Co, and it was good to see it carry over to a game.

We ran the court when it was there, and set the offense up when it was not. This team is night and day better than last year. Definitely worth the price of admission. Mac said BuBu just shadows DG, TB etc in practice. Very positive comments.
