I'm guessing JVB, hopefully we don't need him shooting the 3 this year, would love to see a strong inside game with higher % shots than chucking up the 3's all day long.

Granted, it is way early.....

Folks, we got a steal with Dendy. I think he looked every bit as good as Gilstrap. He is athletic as heck and plays the 4 like a 3. He is ALL over the offensive glass. He is the kind of player that McD is going to make into a star in his system.

Our depth is amazing. For what it was, I could barely tell the starters from the bench players. I'm super excited to be tested as a team. Dendy, Christopherson, Brackins, and Colvin all have serious potential this year. GO CLONES!!!

Dendy does look like a steal. Looks like he could at least be a Rashon Clark type of player....except at the 4 position. He's very athletic and very active. Hopefully he's able to perform on offense against real competition like he did tonight.

JVB is not going to post up, not his game. He will have the same role as last year. Probably 10-15 minutes per game as a match up problem for the other team's bigs out at the 3-point line.

I was a little disappointed Pomlee couldn't go tonight. Wanted to see what he looked like.

The three guys that impressed me the most were:
Dendy
Gilstrap
Christopherson

Christopherson is a lot quicker than I thought he was, plays great defense, and has a sweet stroke. He's going to see a lot of time this year.

I really love the depth and the variety of players we have. I don't think we're gonna light the world on fire, but it seems like we'll be able to match up well against any type of team that we play, and will be able to force some teams to play how we want to.

In the post alone - Brackins obviously is a stud, Big Ham is a traditional big man for the half-court game, JVB is a shooter who can create mismatches and take big men outside, and Dendy is an athletic hustle guy who will get some put backs and some dunks and some blocks. Very versatile.

Clearly, its just one game against an overmatched opponent, but it looks good so far.

Wasn't it you that I was talking with last night about the margin of victory? You said it would be in the teens and a close game bc of their talent, and I said it should be a comfortable victory in the 20's bc we were more talented?

If that wasn't you I apologize, but I tried searching and couldn't find it. Whoever it was used to have a picture of a brain as their avatar...

You'll have to show me proof...this isn't registering.

I'm just as excited for Cyclone basketball as the rest of you and they did look really well tonight. Just want to point out that it was Black Hills State University of Spearfish, SD. Which is only about 45 min aways from where I'm at. We beat them bad, we should have beat them bad, and every big 12 team would have done the exact same. Continue with the excitement, but consider the opponent.

Christopherson>Petey? Sounds like it.

The moment he hit that floater, I knew that was true. No way Petey could hit that shot. SC is much more athletic. The whole team is for that matter! Very pumped!

Dendy = a more skilled (but less ripped) Damion Staple! This is the guy I am most pumped about, looks like he will be a great pickup as a JC.

Buckley looked real improved as well, and Colvin was impressive. If the PG position is good this year, we will have a real good season.
