tonight was a great showing by a new cyclone team. for once i was overly excited about an exhibition game, knowing no matter how far up we got we still have the depth that we had to play people that are big time players. Gilstrap really impressed me offensively, and at times on D. you could tell he is still learning, but i think he will pick it up quick ( doesnt really have time to waste) i think he needs more space than what our offense gave him, hes very versitile ( you tube him.. very impressive highlight reel). dendy will be much like cato/clark, he is very athletic and able to spark some magic with his athletic blocks and dunks. Looks like we will see a lot of opp's this season as athletic we are, looked like gilstrap and dendy were sprinting on fast breaks looking for the easy put down. dendy had a good offensive second half, but i think it will be nxt year when he can put on some muscle before he can contribute in big12 play. Colvin is obveously learning very quick, loved his hustle on the D side of things, awsume vision with amazing passes that will only continue to get better. Buck was so improved from last year. I think we will see DG playing a lot off guard this season seeing how we have depth at the pg, and his shot has obveously gotten much better. Ham didnt seem like a guy to me that was strong enough to play with our athletic group, at times he showed his experiance and i think if he can get a little more lean ( like homan?) he will be big nxt year. Christopherson was awsume, he will be a hilton star, his hustle is amazing, he pushed the ball a lot tonight with bad odds, which i think he will learn very quickly in big12 play that you cannot do that. Booz just needs to shoot more. you can tell he gets down on him self, and just needs ta let it go. lucca lookd prty decent, he was a step late on some defensive drops and couldnt force the guy to the baseline which led to wide open 3 pt.rs for his man. one thing i noticed with brackins game was that he was playing much more aggresive, which i think he is wanting to show, but couldnt last year cuz we were so one deminsional with him. glad to see him actually be able to play to his abilities. one thing im scared about this season is everybody putting so much hype on starting. we have so many players that will see significant playing time, expecially lucca and christopherson switching in and out, hope one doesnt get down on him self and goes into a slump.i think everybody needs to figure out there rolls on this team and we will be good, my opinion is jvb wont see significant time because of his lack of versitility. sure he can shoot the 3, but what eles? cant really dribble or penetrate, or dish, he got cought outside and lost it many times last year. gilstrap shot over 40% from 3pt land last year, and look up dendy on youtube, his high lights are him high jumping a brick ledge, and shooting non-stop threes, i think we will see him step it out a little if the time finds its way. all in all i am very pleased with the proformance tonight, and i think we will really turn some heads once we get into the season. i dont wanna jenx anything or get ahead of my self, but im glad i have duke tickets. love the options of different line ups. for once we may be in charge of the style of play. With returning players i have the sence if leadership from the uper classmen that have been in mcD's program for a while and will help the team keep their heads up and do what they can to help us win!
