we still have alot to work on Dendy and Gilstrap wont get away with alot of the around the basket stuff they put up. with that said this will b a good team! colvin has to learn the Xs and Os b4 he will get much time in a real game he seemed a bit lost out there but he has alot of skills! Buck looked good but he had like 20 pounds on every1 he played so we will have to wait and c how he stacks up when the people can body him up. Ham will b a big time player i think this year (doing the little stuff not big time like CB). Lucca will be the starter for the year he is just to good not to start i think. Scott will bring alot off the bench. WE R WAY DEEP!!!

So did we run a set offense? Or did G Mac let em play, run the floor?

Definitely pushed it early when the "game was in question." I think pushing it worked everytime and it will allow guys like Lucca (spot up shooters) to thrive when the defense isn't set. GMac even yelled at DG for not pushing it once. I love it.

I think that Christopherson is eventually going to be the starter at the 2. He's a better defender and ball handler than Lucca and I don't think that his shooting is far behind Lucca's. I do like seeing DG at the 2 with Buckley or Colvin running the point. Lots of options on this team. Once they get JVB and Pomlee back, frontcourt depth will be as good as the backcourt's. GMac said that he wants to redshirt Dorr and Bubu. I'm starting to wonder whether they can afford to redshirt Bubu...he's a really good defender out there...similar to Cam Lee. He may be a good option if they want to press or if they're having trouble staying in front of a PG.

BTW, I did love it seeing Lucca dribble, step back and can a 3. Last year, I don't know that he ever hit a 3 off the dribble.

Tonight was a great showing by a new cyclone team. For once I was overly excited about an exhibition game, knowing no matter how far up we got we still had the depth to play big time players.

Gilstrap really impressed me offensively, and at times on D. You could tell he is still learning, but I think he will pick it up quickly (doesnt really have time to waste). I think he needs more space than what our offense gives him. He is very versitile (you tube him.. very impressive highlight reel).

Dendy reminded me a lot of Cato/Clark. He is very athletic and able to spark some magic with his athletic blocks and dunks. Looks like we will see a lot of opp's this season as athletic we seem to be. It apeared that Gilstrap and Dendy were sprinting on fast breaks looking for the easy put down. Dendy had a good offensive second half, but I think it will be nxt year when he can put on some muscle before he can contribute in big12 play.

Colvin is obveously learning very quickly. I loved his hustle on the D side of things. He also has outstanding court vision with amazing passes that will only continue to get better.

Buck was very improved from last year. I think we will see DG playing a lot of off guard this season, seeing how we have depth at the pg position. DG and DB's shots have obveously greatly improved.

Ham didnt seem like a guy that was strong enough to play with our athletic group. Although at times he showed his experiance and if he can get a little more lean (like Homan) he will be big nxt year.

Christopherson was outstanding. He will be a hilton crowd pleaser. His hustle is contagous. He pushed the ball a lot tonight, somtimes with bad odds. Which he will, more than likely, learn very quickly in big12 play that you cannot do that.

Booz just needs to shoot more. You can tell he gets down on him self, and needs to let it go.

Lucca looked much more in shape, but was a step late on some defensive drops and couldn't force the guy to the baseline which led to wide open 3 pointers for his man.

One thing I noticed with CB's game was that he was playing much more aggresive. Which I think he is wanting to show, but wasn't able to last year bcuz we were so one deminsional with him. Glad to see him actually be able to play to his abilities.

I'm not sure if jvb will see significant time because of his lack of versitility. Sure he can shoot the 3, but what eles? He can't really dribble or penetrate, or dish. Last season he got cought outside and turned it over many times. Gilstrap shot over 40% from 3pt land last year. Look up Dendy on YouTube, his high lights are him high jumping a brick ledge, and shooting non-stop threes. If the video is legit I think we will see him step it out a little if the time finds its way.

One thing that I'm concerned about this season is everybody putting so much hype on starting. We have so many players that will see significant playing time, expecially Lucca and Christopherson switching in and out. I hope one doesn't get down into a slump. I think everybody needs to figure out thier rolls on this team and we will be dancing. All in all I am very pleased with the proformance tonight, and I think we will really turn some heads once we get into the season. Love the options of different line ups. For once we maybe in charge of the style of play. With returning players I have the scence if leadership from the uper classmen that have been in mc.D's program for a while and will help the team keep their heads up and do what they can to help us win!

Sorry for the earlyer confusion... Notice it was posted at 3am.

Wow. There is a reason capital letters, paragraphs, and two spaces after a period were invented. The eye pain associated with reading your thoughts isn't worth it.

Yes, I totally forgot about Christopherson. I thought about it when I was laying in bed last night but was too lazy to come down and edit. And yes, incredibly nice problem to have.

I am as happy as everyone else. It appears that we have a lot more talent that the previous three years. Let's hope that we can shock the world, and finish in the top 3 of the league.

But, and this is not meant to be a coach slam.....

I would caution that until we finish games, like Hawaii and Drake last year, that I will withhold judgement. Those losses had nothing to do with the players on that team, that was a case of playing not to lose. This is something that Greg has had a hard time with going back to his days at UNI.

Hopefully, with more athletic talent, he won't micromanage the game so much.

I really think that dendy and christopherson are going to start this season. DG, Christopherson, Gilstrap, Brackins, Dendy. I love Hams hustle, I think he needs to play against bigger guys and not these players that are a foot shorter than him down low.

The talent on the game nights is one thing, but having more talent during practice helps a ton. These guys will be pushing each other. I like how Brackins will probably be facing Gilstrap and vice versa. All of them should be better prepared come conference time.

Not butts in the seats, actual attendance wasn't much more than the womens game yesterday. I would say around 4,000.

I was going to say 4-6000, either of which is a good crowd for a game with Black Hills State.

I enjoyed turning to revkah early on when Craig was asserting himself and saying, "It looks like they don't have an answer for Craig Brackins. Oh, yeah. Nobody has an answer for Craig Brackins."

We don't get all national title crazy after that win, but it sure was exciting to see the athleticism, the shooting ability, the versatility, the aggressiveness, the willingness to play defense/rebound, and the passing eyes that Dendy and Colvin have. Those guys have a real gift for finding an open guy from the middle of tough activity. I loved their passing.

All of the guys have shown a ton of improvement so far. I know that this wasn't the toughest opponent, but we straight blew them out in a way that we couldn't have done last year. Our current team went out there looking like they were going to blow those guys away and delivered on that. I don't think we'd be coming back on UC-Davis this year.

No. Greg said postgame that MAYBE he can practice this week and get in the game Friday. Outside chance though, but good to hear he is close.

Fun game in Hilton tonight. Can't recall the last time we had 50 at the half. Lots of guys contributed which was great.

Gilstrap had a very quiet but good night. I liked it.

Dendy? Impressive.

We really need to get isucyfan's "Crocodile Dendy" nickname going for him. He is going to be a crowd favorite quickly, like by Friday night.

I was thinking of that alley-oop from Gilstrap to Dendy while I was at work, and daydreamed a little thinking of that play being against Kansas. Not sure the noise would have died down yet.

Dendy was more impressive than I had hoped, and my hopes were high. Gonna love that guy.

I don't remember one last year, either. He's really lost some weight and gotten more mobile. I thought he looked much more agile and much quicker. Loved seeing him go right inside for rebounds.

so you are all saying this a good team to build around HB for next yr?

Frankly, with the guys who we could expect to stay next year, he would be a guy that could make that a very fun team to watch.

Just for fun, makes you wonder if that small comment about how ISU "is really bringing in some good players" was an indication that he would like to play with the talented guys we have here.
